Question about Epson AcuLaser C1900 Printer

1 Answer

Epson AcuLaser C1900 paper jams and almost no ink

I've got an Epson AcuLaser C1900 printer, which has been working fine for quite some time. Then I moved and took the printer with me. During this period, it hasn't been operating for about two months and it was stored in a much colder environment.

Now I constantly get paper jams, ofthen when the page is already more than 80% out of the printer (when printing from the smaller tray). When printing from the big tray, the jams are much earlier in the paper flow.

When the page does get out, it is unreadable. you can see a faint colouring where something should have been printed, but it is impossible to make out what that should have been.

I've been hunting for stuff in the printer (which is unlikely, since it was working before) and I have no clue what the reason could be for those problems or even if they are related.

All help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks a lot for the reply!

Ther results that I'm seeing now are much better. The only remaining issue is that the printer seems to start printing about 5 centimeters/2 inches from the top of the page (there is a "grey" line there (not printed). I see this behavioureven when printing a status sheet. Any idea what the reason might be?

    Thanks a lot,

I have same problem as TIM. Moved the printer to a different location, and it was not used for 3-4 months. Now, it prints as if there ain't no color (ink although , I have replaced all the toners a few weeks ago). Paper keeps jamming after nearly 80% of printing. Any color on a page, the printer jams. Printing word doc just in black, are always 5-6 cm below margin, even in print preview it looks ok.

I have a big mistakes, I have contacted the technician at Epson, online chats. they suggested to remove the photo conductor unit
and the transfer unit. They told me to give a good clean with cloth which i did. when I inserted everything back. now I am getting another problem.

    1. K toner cart out.

K toner is new, was working before tips from epson.

I contacted epson again, they said to take the toner out and re insert again. I did a few times.

The problem persists, now I can't even use the printer to even to print in black.

    from your tips

    1. Open the cover below the paper path roller.

    2. With a clean dampened cloth, wipe the pickup roller

Where is the pickup roller? I know where is the path roller, i can not find a pick up roller.

Please help. K toner cart out
and where is the pickup roller

Is it i have to flip the 2 green levers, just on the top when i open the AB cover? to get it .

I read through the reference guide, they did not mention anything about pick up roller?

If paper jam occurs frequently, wipe the pickup roller with a clean dampened cloth. Follow the steps below:

  1. Open Cover AB of the printer.
  2. Open the cover below the paper path roller.
  3. With a clean dampened cloth, wipe the pickup roller.
  4. Close Cover AB.
If the glass on the print head filter is dirty with toner, wipe it with a clean cloth. A vertical white line may appear in the printout. Follow the steps below:
  1. Open the front cover.
  2. Tilt the waste toner collector and pull it out.
  3. Grasp the handle of the print head filter with your fingers and gently pull it straight out of the slot. (**Note: Be careful not to spill toner that has accumulated on the print head filter. )
  4. With a clean cloth, wipe the glass surface of print head filter.
  5. Hold the print head filter by the handle and gently insert it all the way into the slot.
  6. Reinstall the waste toner collector.
  7. Close the front cover.
The print quality problem might be something as simple as turning off the Toner Save mode using the printer driver or the printer's control panel menus.
There may be a problem with the photoconductor unit. You may need to replace the photoconducter unit.
Or it might be something rather more serious (hopefully, not)Print out a status sheet. If a blank page is ejected, the problem may be with the printer. Turn off the printer and contact your dealer.

The page length and margins could be set incorrectly in your application. Make sure that you are using the correct page length and margin settings in your application.

But since you said the status sheet prints that way too, the printer settings most likely need to be adjusted.

You can apply basic settings automaticallly by using predefined settings, or if you need to change detailed settings, make the settings manually.

Follow these steps to customize your print settings:

    1. Click the advanced button in the basic settings menu, then click more settings. A dialog box appears.

    2. Choose color or black as the color setting.

    3. Choose desired printing resolution from 300 dpi or 600 dpi with the resolution slider bar, then make other settings.

    4. Click OK to apply your settings and return to the basic settings menu. (or click cancel to return to the basic settings menu without applying your settings.)

    To save your custom settings,

    1. Click the advanced button and click save settings on the basic settings menu. The custom settings dialog box appears.

    2. Type a name for your custom settings in the name box, and click save. Your settings will appear in the list to the right of the automatic button in the basic settings menu.

It could also be that you are using an overlay setup. If you cannot figure it out from the above methods, start a new problem sheet and add a screen shot to the post.

The Cleaner Pressure Flapper Solenoid it dead or dying. You can try moving it by hand to see if you can prolong it, but basically it needs a new one. Its a job for an engineer really.
