I just got window vista and my printer will not work. what can i do?

Hello, I believe the printer works
with Windows XP and Windows 2000
only but there is no available
driver for Windows Vista. I
visited the Lexmark website to
verify it. Just click on this link if you want to check it out for yourself. http://bit.ly/cQqZbz . Click on the dropdown for Microsoft at the bottom of the page. You'll only see drivers for Windows XP and Windows 2000 only. I hope that would explain why it won't work with your Vista.

This will not work with windows vista that's the big problem..

The printer hardware does not support vista, hence there no drivers for vista by lexmark .

Upgrading from Windows XP to Windows Vista :
Before upgrading your OS from Windows XP to Windows Vista, delete / uninstall all the Windows XP software first; then, upgrade the OS to Windows Vista and install Vista software.

Delete / uninstall Windows XP software before installing Windows Vista software.

Before you follow though with Hp's alternet driver site. Please run windows update for Vista un till no updates are left. If your printer still fails to run correctly than try HP's alternate drive.

I have the same problem. The Lexmark printer z 25 do not work on windows Vista. Please give a solution.

I partually solve my problem in vista. to scan I ues paint and use the scanner connection in there.

there have been many problems with vista with all kinds of kit.... The best thing to do is to go to the Lexmark website and download the latest software drivers for your printer, hopefully that will resolve the issue

How long ago did you purchase the printer? Does it have the "Certified for Windows Vista" logo on the box? If not, it won't work with Vista at all. I checked Microsoft's Hardware Compatibility List and it says the HP Photosmart C3100 series is *certified* with Vista, however it does not say it *works* with Vista. http://winqual.microsoft.com/HCL/ProductDetails.aspx?m=v&g=d&cid=900&sv=&f=86p&pn=HP%20Photosmart%20C3100%20series&oid=31 Per the link, the driver may be part of the Windows Update. Give that a try, as well as HP's website. Otherwise you may need to take it back and exchange it for a Vista-certified printer. Let me know how it works out!
