There are two types of connectors to the mouse pad...unscrew the bottom screws in the laptop. Hint: remove the extra cdrom from its tray and there is a screw hidden there. the keyboard should slide out first and then the houseing of the surrounding of the keyboard to include the mouse....make sure the connectors are snug and then is it still fails then the mouse is faulty. The recepiticals that the ribbon cable to the mouse plug into have a tanish color that pulls out and then you feed the ribbon in then push the tan portion back into place....takes a little work but that's usually the problem.
