Problem for Epson Stylus Photo R220 InkJet Printer
My printer is leaving horizontal streaks across
my Epson Stylus Photo R220 printer is leaving horizontal streaks across the picture when its done printing. The ink isn't smiring, the photo is pretty but the streaks a very noticeable. Any ideas what might be the problem? It prints out letters fine, no streaks all, and the ink isn't running out either (more than 3/4 full in each cartridge). Help.

- I didn't print from a scanner...I just printed from my computer. But I just downloaded a 30 day trail of Lightroom 2 from Adobe, wonder if that has anything to do with it???Nov 05, 2009
- Tried the cleaning too...no luck. Maybe it's the "Lightroom 2" from Adobe. The pic looks beautiful after I adjusted in this program, but prints with streaks!!Nov 05, 2009
- Well, I just tried to print a picture using Photo Printing Wizard (program I usually use to print pictures and it always works great), and I noticed that the lines are a there, but very very faint. The picture I tried to print from the Adobe program was a very dark pic, which really made the lines more noticable...hmmmm! Now what?Nov 05, 2009
- I only use Epson ink in my printer, so that's not the problem. Its strange because these streaks just started to happen all of a sudden. I'm wondering if dust has gotten into the printer. I've let it sit on my hardword floors by my computer for sometime now...noticed cat hair in it when I tried to clean it..yikes!! I have ink all over my hands from cleaning it with a cloth..but streaks are still showing. I'm going to try to clean the jets again.Nov 05, 2009
- I just went my printer and changed the paper type from regular printer paper to Prem. Glossy Photo paper and that solved the problem. I had changed prior to printing the first time, but it didn't work I guess. Now the picture is perfect!! Thank you for your time and suggestions..i learned alot from all of you.Best Solution

When I had the same problem, I found out, that Epson did not like Generic Ink. As soon as I replaced it with Genuine Epson Ink, it was fine.
Make sure you do Maintenance, Nozzle Check and Head Cleaning. You might be clogged?

Finally, after all that, my final conclusion was Epson would not work with Generic Ink !

- Try removing the program you installed, and then print it out again.That's what I would do.

- Glad to hear, that at least you are able to print a half decent picture. :0). Now, did you say you WERE using Epson Genuine Cartridges? That is a must !!! Also, Maintenance, Nozzle, Head & Alignment have to be done.When I had that problem, I went thru 8 cartridges of ink, in cleaning alone.

I'm assuming that it is when you scan the picture to print it, then you get the streaks. It is an indication that the glass need to be cleaned or the scanner bulb is going bad.
