- Thanx for the quick reply. Windows wizard found a driver, but posted a message saying it has not passed Windows compatability testing. It strongly recommended to quit the driver installation and get the driver from the flash drive manufacturer. Should I try to install the driver anyway?Nov 05, 2009

Windows 98 has no support for newer USB flash-drives.
Windows XP has full support for newer USB flash-drives -- if it cannot find the driver on your 'C:' disk, it will access the Internet to download the drivers from Microsoft's web-site, automatically.

no drivers are needed for a flash drive on windows xp. Just make sure all the drivers on your computer are up to date.
