this is what i posted on a simalar question ...
My ps3 stopped reading ps2 and ps3 games, dvd's and bluray disks altogether.
This happened to me with my 600.00 PS3
when they came out. Since I did not have my reciept I had to pay 90.00 and ship it to Sony. This actually happened to me right after I did an update.
Goto www.playstation.com and goto support. There will be a series of questions to answer to see if you need to send it in. My PS3 took about 10 days to come back to me.
