Ice & Water Dispenser Suddenly Dysfunctional; LED lights, too!

A few days ago, we noticed that the ice cube dispenser was not dispensing ice (though the 'sound' of the ice dispenser still worked when you depressed the lever to get ice and the water dispenser still worked). We then discovered that the ice cube bin was filled with one solid block of ice (indicating the ice cubes had thawed and refrozen into one large chunk).

We thawed the bin out and put it back. Ice cubes were made and dispensed successfully. Today, though, a couple days later, the ice cube dispenser and water dispenser do not work at all, even after completely removing the ice cube bin. When you push back the lever to dispense either ice or water, no sound is made whatsoever and the little green LED light above the ice & water icons fades to black. A moment or two after releasing the dispense lever, the light will come back on.

Additionally, there seems to be a whirring sound emanating from the lower portion of the back of the left (freezer) side. When you try to dispense ice or water, that sound goes off. A moment or two later, that whirring will come back on (in synch with the LED light).
