Ge top freezer refrigerator ice maker problems

I have a leak in the ice maker. It makes sufficient ice, but there is leakage near the motor. It causes a mountain of ice from the bottom of the motor to the ice bin. The leak isn't near the fill cup or inlet. It's on the opposite side at the motor end. The fill cup (plastic removable thing near water inlet) is bent a bit, but the leak isn't there (opposite end). Is it a crack, overfill, cleaning needed, leveling thing or what?

i have a problem my GE icemaker donot put water in the mold and it trun but no water why

  • alynllib Apr 08, 2009

My refrig is side by side with ice and water on the door. The ice maker overflows into the bend from about the middle of the tray. It forms ice sickles on the side of the tray but some water runs in to the bottom of the ice bend and freezes solid.

Ge refrigerator, ice maker seems to work but ice is not dispensed. If I open drawer and move ice towards the front it will dispense one or two pieces of ice.

Most likely bad icemaker but could be a leveling issue or overfilling which both would be very noticable

Not sure on this one, but many freezers draw a vacuum like that for a little while to try to get all of the air and moisture out. Commercial units are designed that way. If Ice is building up, there is most likely an air leak. Check the door gaskets and see if they are sealing up properly.

Refrigerator Freezer has ice forming in the bottom inside freezer section. It appears to be leaking down the back inside compartment. The top section has an ice maker and water dispenser but I haven't had...

I believe you just described a defrost condensate blockage that is causing the leaking. There are many reasons for this happening for example water leaking from a water supply line for the dispenser or ice maker, a in the defrost pan, water leaking and draining through the refrigerator cabinet, but most are caused by a defrost drain line blockage. Below is a link that may be helpful so try to take it all in and use the parts that most refer to your specific problem, Thanks Sea Breeze

The ice maker is not working. The motor makes a noise when you press the button but there is no signs of ice at all.

We have a GE Profile refrig, circa 1995. The ice

If you are sure it is caused by the ice maker or if it is not it can be fixed. The only way an ice maker would leak like that is if ice is blocking the inlet tube and when the water comes on the water is spewed in a different direction than the ice maker. Most times this is caused by a slow leak in the water control valve for the ice maker side at the rear of the refrigerator. You can stop the problem by melting the ice in the fill tube with a hair dryer and keeping an eye on it until you see ice beginning to build up there again. That would indicate a slow leak in the water control valve that is not closing all the way when off. The other reason for large pools of ice in the freezer is a frozen over defrost condensate drain behind the cover in the rear of the freezer and would require you to unplug power and remove the rear panel. I will try to get some photos and a link shortly that covers that problem a lot more in just a few minutes. Sea Breeze

GE Refrigerator Series

Your Ice maker may have a defrost heater stuck and causing to much heat in the freezer. Feel around the bottom of the ice maker see if its warm Not too close it can burn you if its on all the time. If this is the trouble remove it and when you unplug it see if the temp goes back to normal in the freezer.

Please get back to me and let me know if this helped or you still have a problem. Please rate me accordingly and good luck.

GE top freezer refrigerator automatic ice cube maker leaks water into the freezer, and eventually on the floor. Water seems to be coming from the area that fill up to make more ice cubes.

If it is leaking water in the freezer it will more than likely freeze amongst the ice cubes causing a block of ice.

It is more than likely leaking at the rear of the unit, near the valve or fill tube for the ice, this will run up the rear wall of the unit.

We have a leak in the back bottom of our refrigerator , ice maker

You say there was a new copper line attached? I assume that this means a repair has been done. If the unit has been slightly overcharged with refrigerant, this can cause excessive condensate to build up on the return copper tubing and would then drip in the back of the fridge. Or you should check on the drainpipe which often has a drainpan built either over the compressor dome or somewhere within the compressor area. Make sure the drainpipe is not missing the pan and that the pan is not leaking.
