Big black marks down the center of every sheet?

Hi everyone:

Every sheet I print has a big black mark running down the center--straight lines, almost like a bar code. It seems to be getting worse and worse and I have no idea how to fix it.

I recently replaced the black toner cartridge, but I don't know how or why this would suddenly happen. Thanks for any help you can offer!

Why does adf cause line in center of printed documents?

Does this happen when when you place a document on the big glass? when you use the doc feeder you are using the small slit glass clean the slit glass if the problem goes away when using the big glass or when you print, then you know the bottom part of the machine is doing ok and its the scanner section which is the big glass area and the slit glass. you may have to to look at the glass at different angles to see the mark.

Doesnt print in black

Go down to the 6th paragraph of this page:
This seems to be a big problem with Brother and HP printers. Try marking out any area on the cartridge that could be read with a sensor, you might get lucky.

Roller Marks

Try this to clean the rollers:

Put in blank sheets of paper in then print out from microsoft word a blank document.

This should clean the rollers. Also, there might be special cleaning sheets that you can purchase from Epson.

When coping I have a black line down the left side of the page. This only happens when I'm copying NOT when I'm printing off a document from Word or the Internet on my computer. How can I get rid of this black line?

Calibration runs fine. But won't print anything else!

Here are the things you will be asked to try if you call support. They may fix the problems as well. Taking the printhead out and putting it back in is the big helper.

Remove the black and color ink cartridges.
Right above where the black ink cartridge was, in the top left hand corner of the printhead, push up towards the ceiling and you should be able to push a button that releases the printhead.
Place the printhead right back into the printer and push straight back on the back wall.
You should hear a loud snap.
Replace the ink cartridges which should snap as well.
Close the printer.
After about a minute or so the printer will ask you to do a calibration.
Insert a paper and press start.
Scan the calibration sheet.
After that, in the menu, do a printhead clean.
(If this is a 5100, do it in the home center ->? in the top right ->Maintainence ->Clean Printhead.)
Do one basic and one deep.
Print a demo sheet to see if anything has changed.
If the picture looks better, continue to do cleans.
In the event that it does not, the printhead will need to be replaced and since the printer is still under warranty, Kodak specialists will try to overnight you a printhead.
The whole process is short and free.
The number for Kodak AiO Support is 1 800 421 6699.

Prints a strip of black down middle of page

You need to open the small lid on each toner cartridge (to reveal the drum cylinder) and check if the line mark appears on any of them. If the case, you have some sort of contamination making a permanent mark on the affected cartridge. It can be a piece of paper, dirt, or loose part. If the toners are clean, your problem might be routed to the LSU (laser scanner unit) for which you need an Authorized Service Center to assist you.
