What card were you using before? Was it agp/pci or onboard graphics?

Did you uninstall that via device manager first before putting in new one? Use drivercleaner pro to remove all traces of old drivers too...free progy :)

You need to change a setting in the bios to select agp rather than onboard vga as display device.

Monitor works only in safe mode

graphics problem on your desktop is malfuctioning, after the computer turns on it uses all the drivers for your monitor which if broken or wrongs drivers will cause the display to be blank,
when using it in safemode it only loads the basics. try un installing the drivers for your graphics card in safemode, "with command prompts" and let windows download the correct one

How do you know your mouse and keyboard work if you have a blank screen?

What motherboard did you put in it? Did you install a video card or using a built in video card? How many beeps? Do you have a spare video card to put in the system and try that?

My acer monitor come on and screen go blank

Step 1:
WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL. http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules Only work inside the computer case when the power has been switched off and disconnected. Never open the power source. Some of the below steps recommend removing physical parts within the computer. While in the computer it is highly recommend that you be aware of ESD and its potential hazards Causes a Computer Monitor to Go Blank b> While a blank screen may be caused by a general power outage, more often it's a problem with the screen itself. It could be a loose video or power cable going to the monitor. If that's the case, you can get the screen working again and be back in business in a few minutes. b> Power Problems All the power might be off due to a bad outlet, switch, fuse, or circuit breaker. If you hear no sound coming from the computer and its power light is off, check the power connection and breaker or fuse. Video Cable Many times the cause of monitor blackouts is a loose video cable connection. This might happen if you move the monitor or the cable. The video cable runs from the back of the computer to the monitor. It has a multi-pin connector on each end and both of them screw down securely. If the screws aren't tight, either connector could become loose. If that happens, the video signal could stop suddenly and make the picture go blank. Check both ends of the connector to make sure they're firmly seated and the screws are tight. The cable itself might be bad. This is unlikely, but possible. b> Display Power The monitor must have power. If the power light isn't lit on the monitor, it may have been turned off or become unplugged. Press the power button to make sure it wasn't accidentally turned off. Make sure the monitor is plugged in. If it's connected to a power strip, check that the power strip is on. If that checks out, unplug the monitor and try a different outlet. Power strip sockets can sometimes fail. Flat-screen monitors may have a power-brick-style adapter. It, too, has connectors. Follow the power cable from the monitor's power plug back to the monitor. About halfway up you'll find a thick rectangular plastic brick. The power goes into a modular-style equipment socket. This can become loose. Follow the wire the rest of the way to the monitor. It connects to the back of the screen with a small round plug. Check that it's firmly plugged in. If everything's plugged in right and the power light on the monitor's still off, the power brick might be bad. b> Video Card Some computers have a separate video card inside. It may come loose and cause a blank screen. If this is the case, open the computer and inspect the video card. Sometimes removing and reseating the card will fix the problem. If it has to be replaced, most video cards are not expensive.

Nothing comes up on the monitor

Hi there,
Please check if there is power to the system.
Is this a laptop or desktop?
If it's laptop see if any light turns on in the computer and or if you can connect it to an external monitor to check if the problem is the LCD display or the Video Graphics Adapter.
If it's a desktop see if there's power to the monitor and to the system.
Do you seea any message like no signal or output out of range or is the monitor totally blank?
If you can provide additional information like if it's a desktop or a laptop, when was the last time it worked if there are any indicator of power coming to the system.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Blank screen after turning computer on

Sounds like onboard video might have gone out. 2 suggestions, if the system is still underwarranty, send in for repair. If not, suggestion would be to open the case, and confirm type of slots AGP, PCI, PCI Express, and purchase a video card on the type to install.

I installed the ATI x1650 but the monitor is blank when I turn on

Yes the card does support the screen. If you have blank screen right from turn on, chack that you have not plugged the monitor into the onboard graphics port instead of your Radeon. If you have plugged it into the right port then you have hardware problems. Could be any of the following:
1. Monitior
2. Video Card
3. System memory
4. Motherboard
5. Powersupply
6. CPU

Try a different monitor and get back to me if you want troubleshooting tips.
Cheers

Monitor goes blank then displays "mode not supported"

INstall the correct Video graphic card driver. The driver CD must have been shipped with the Monitor. Just put that CD in, and follow the on screen instructions.

Monitor turns on then shuts off in seconds.

check your video card connections. make sure that your monitor cable is attached firmly in place. Also make sure the video card is fully pushed into the slot on the motherboard. Sometimes because of heat the card can pop out of the slot. Sometime this is just enough to barely work and then stop.

Computer boots fine but the monitor is blank

if the monitor works fine on your laptop, the problem definitely is at the computer, possibly with the video card (if it is using one). it could have loose connection, or parts might have damages. it seems the problem is intermittent so electronic component of the video card could have parts partially damages or leaky components.
if your still using the motherboards built in video out put, try installing a new video card.
