    suisboy,

Ty, I tried opening my other newer computer but noticed that the bus has different number of pin. I tried the connector to the dvd but the computer recognized it as an audio hardware. Actually this 200gb hard drive work on my old computer if run on safe mode but freezes on normal mode, I tried to reformat the hard drive then try to load all the software but I always get an error message. For trying to restart and solve the problem several times, now I cant even open the computer even on the safe mode menu. Any more advise?

    thanks again

    mac

have you formated your hard drives? are your black or white jumpers hooked to the pins on top of hard drive? if the hard drives are new chances are the jumpers are still in small plastic package.the jumpers are little peaces of plastic with two holes with metal in them. the jumpers go on were it says master if you are using 2 hard drives .the other hard drive the jumper goes were it says slave. if you are using 1 hard drive you put the jumper on cs.

Can i transfer information to a mac

If the external hard drive has been formatted on a PC in NTFS file format then the MAC cannot read data off this hard drive.
The FIX..
Connect the USB external hard drive to a Windows computer and copy your data off this hard drive to the computer.
Then format the external hard drive in FAT32 file format. (the MAC can read and write to data to and from a Windows PC)
Now copy the your data from the computer back onto the external hard drive.
Now you can connect the external hard drive to the MAC and download your data to the MAC.

How to transfer 57 gigs from a mac to firelite xp.

The hard drive maybe formatted in Windows NTFS format and the MAC cannot see this formatted hard drive.
If you only wanr to use this hard drive on a MAN then you need to format this hard drive with your MAC.
If you want to exchange files between your MAC and a PC then you need to format the hard drive on a PC in FAT32. The MAC can read and write to a FAT32 formatted hard disk.

Hey my Buffolo harddrive wont show my files, i can see that there are files, i have used 180 out of 200GB, but when i click on my harddrive icone on my computer it sayd folder is empty.. PLEASE HELP

There are generally 2 formats for Hard drives, the NTFS for windows and the FAT 32 for MAC. If you previously used windows then mac wont see it and vice versa. You can check this by right clicking and see the properties. If you want Mac to back up as well as using it on windows, you need to partition the Hard disk by going into the Mac Applications folder then select Utilities. If the Hard drive is connected you should see it and can select erase from the menu tab to format the disks according to your needs. This solved my problems and I hope this helps.

200gb drive registers as 2000gb when I try to format

why not either rename this drive at the correct size or format and partion etc,
If the drive shows 2000GB then why not put some stuff on it say 300GB and if its a 200GB it will give you a FULL message once it reaches 200GB

Loosing 2gb on hard drive everytime

if it has hp windows installed as standard it reserves some space for recovery so if O/S plays up it can be recovered from it.
One other thing it may be is if a hard drive is listed as 200gb when formatted it is a lot smaller
listed size 200gb formatted size 185GB this is only an example as actual size may differ hope this helps
