I have a I have a Compaq Presario 1245 laptop which doesn't start up. I haven't used it for two years, it was serviced before I put it away.

When I plug in the AC and switch it on a light comes up recognizing the AC pwer but it doesn't start, it makes a noise as if it's booting up but nothing comes up on the screen and it continues making the boot up sounds. I have replaced the Lithium CMOS cell inside hoping that would cure the problem but still the same, nothing has happenedI. Should I get a new battery. laptop which doesn't start up. I haven't used it for two years, it was serviced before I put it away.

i have a compaq presario which when pluged on the A/C it makes the boot noise but does not display on the monitor when i pluged it in to the desk top crt monitor it desplayed so i realiised that the desplay monitor for the laptop is dead so where do i get another monitor

you could try booting on battery instead of mains and see what happens, also could the screen be switched off ? If you have access to another monitor, you could try plugging it in to see if the video output is ok. ( some laptops have a facility to switch off the screen display for security etc )
