if i press anything i get the windows loading bar for about 3 seconds, screen flashes blue with some kind of message(which vanishes so fast you cant read it,very helpfull!) then turns off or restarts only for the same thing to happen,
please bear in mind that im really not to clever on the pc side so any help in pc thick /english please!

To go through the recovery program I think you tap the F11 button as you start up. Press the power button and keep tapping F11 until the recovery program starts. I have restored my easynote L4 back to factory settings twice with this utility.

However, I get the impression you have already done this and you are experiencing what's known as the Blue Screen Of Death BSOD. Don't let this term frighten you, it doesn't mean the laptop is fried. My laptop only came with 250mb of ram, so I upgraded and installed another stick in the spare port. Had you installed any more ram yourself? As postmanfw says...need to know what was happening before you tried to restore back to factory settings.

What problems were you having before doing the recovery with disk?

Do you have access to aother pc? If so you need to get a program called memtest that tests the ram in you computer. Its a free program from here

You need to burn a cd with the unzipped iso image on it and then let the computer boot up from that to test if ram is faulty.

Instructions are on the site.

Our packard bell easy note te69kb laptop is stuck on shutting down screen as if it didn't close properly when last used

I suspect there has just been a windows update and it is confused. If it won't close down, hold the power button down until it does and than re boot. The issue should clear.

Insert boot disc

either there is no operating system installed or the hard drive failed
you can check to see if your hard drive is visible in the bios you can usually get into your bios by pressing delete, F2 or F10 on start up under drive options or boot options you should see the hard drive
either way i would send it back as defective

Packard bell easy note tj65 will not power up

the short cable running from the power button to the main board has probably snapped where it passes over the RH hinge. remove the screen surround to gain access to the power on switch area and check. it would seem to be a common fault with the packard bell

I updated the bios for my packard bell easy note laptop, model L4014. The laptop now just boots and reboots. It seems to have lost my drives. How do I resolve this problem

go into your bios and have a look at your boot order, when you do a bios update, usually it sets bios to default setting, most of the time making dvd drive 1st boot rather then hdd.
might help.

here the reply i left for another problem of the same sort just with an IBM. the process for undooing this is similar for most laptops so just apply Packard Bell instead of IBM

the only solutions i know are both non easy fixes. one is to strip down the laptop and find the bios battery if it has one. then pull it, leave it 30 seconds and put it back in, rebuild and all will be well. the other is to get hold of IBM and fax them proof of ID and ownership (the usualy request although i havent done it with IBM yet) and they have an unlocking set of passwords which is written into the BIOS.

Packard Bell Easynote L4 turns off after Bios

I would try a BIOS update first. Go to the manufacturer website and find the BIOS update for your model. Also, you mentioned replacing the memory. Are you positive it is the correct memory? Were you having the problem before you replaced the memory? If you have the wrong memory in a computer it will give a "beep code" and won't boot up.

Pac Bell Easy Note Sc - boot problems

I think you should remove your Memory RAM at the back of the laptop and wipe the edges with a clean white can locate this also using your manual
Put it back and lets notice the results..
But if the problem still exists then i think you should change the memory RAM with a good one..

Please let me get back to me and let me know the results..

Packard Bell Easynote L4

This is either the hardrive that has failed or windows cannot find the c:\ boot volume. You will need to start your pc up with your xp cd in and and when it's installed all the set up files press 'R' for repair, this will overwrite all the system files, without deleteing any of your saved files and programmes.
