Question about Norelco Advantage 6705 X Electric Shaver

2 Answers

Battery replacement I have 2 of the above units. The battery has gone bad in both of them. I have purchased generic "replacement batteries" but I am not able to figure out how to disassemble the shaver without destroying it. Please give me instruction or tell where I can find instructions. Can't find right size tool for opening Norelco 985RX and 905 RX. Seem to be the same 2 screws at bottom back. Anyone know what tool will unscrew?

Well i have found what you need ..unfourtenly you can not replace the battery your self. ((( THE BELOW IS FROM NORELCO CONCERNING YOUR BATTERY REPLACEMENT ))))....sorry its not a do it your self thing. attempting this your self would result in destroying your shaver.

Notes:
Batteries are soldered onto the electronic circuit board in the razor, battery replacement requires specific tools and expertise.
If your shaver is under warranty battery replacement by anyone other than an authorized service center voids the warranty.

We can repair your shaver for you, Click here and fill out the form, print it and send with your shaver to the address on the form.
Labor, batteries and return shipping (to a USA Address) is $33.90
additional parts are extra if needed.

To open up your shaver, remove the lotion cover and remove all 5 screws with a small flat head screwdriver. They have a star head, but also a flat notch. Since they shaver is water tight, the first time you open it up it will be difficult, but if you pry off with your screwdriver it should pop off.
Towards the head of the shaver the batteries are soldered to the circuit board. Pull the tail end of the batteries out of the plastic holder and cut them at the top end as close to the batteries as you can, or CAREFULLY bend it back and forth to snap the metal. Dispose of the batteries responsibly as you would any batteries.

Disconnects all the time from the power (restarts itself every 3 minutes)

That's not a lot to go on. How about listing your make and model?

It sounds like two problems. Your battery may be bad and your power supply (the large unit in the power cable, could be bad. They do go bad so either your battery is bad or it's not charging.

A lot of the batteries have a test button. Pull it and press the test button and see if it's charged. If not, try running the laptop without the battery and just use the power cable. If it continues to shutdown, then that's probably your problem.

You can replace it with the same one (model number should be on it) or you can get a universal power supply (not a UPS) but a generic one. They come with multiple adapters and a switch to set the amps. Match the amps (look at the old power supply) and match the adapter. It's usually cheaper than purchasing the original.

Trying to charge my Garmin 396 with external power. The unit is showing "Battery Missing". However my battery is there.

I had this problem on an aftermarket battery I purchased last year. It worked well for several months but recently gave me the battery missing warning and would not operate the unit at all. I checked the voltage on my Garmin OEM and on the new one. The Garmin OEM, showed 8.1V on two readings, between the center and right terminals and about that between the two outer terminals. The OEM showed around 5.7 so that implied that it had some bad cells and not a broken wire. I tossed it and bought a new aftermarket unit last week. That one doesn't show a full charge and when I switched back to the Garmin battery it shows 00:00 time remaining, but still 8.1V. Maybe I should have just bought a new Garmin battery!

Toshiba Satellite M45-S331 willnot operate on

Hello,

You have replaced the battery and then it worked.
Try once with power draining (remove the battery and then press the power button for one minute and then again refix the battery) and check.

Thanks

Seeking battery unit for a Shinco DVD player model SDP-5880

a. where did you purchase it? b. have you tried their web-site? (shinco). try getting info from your point of purchase- good luck with that! try googling brand name, model #, part# and see if there is any source for a 'generic' replacement battery. depends on how old your unit is, to some degree. shinco may be out of business!!
good luck!

New Battery + Possible Parasitic Drain + Weird Problems

Many new batteries will come with bad cells from the factory. If you just purchased this, I would definately try returning it asap. As soon as you get the new one, immediately hook it up to the charger to see if you have the same results. I have heard of others who have gone through two bad (new) batteries before getting a good one.

CyberPower 800 AVR

Hi. I've had one since 2003 no problems. Then suddenly I come home and the power had temp gone out, come back on and the tone is constant. I hit the button, on and off. powers, then off, a couple of beeps. Nothing improved it.

I read online...the back up battery eventually wears out and can be replaced! This will happen will all units, it's normal. No biggie and less expensive than a new unit. I haven't replaced mine yet as this all coincided with a new computer purchase and I was planning on getting at least one more unit anyway, so I've just grabbed a 825 off the shelf. I'll figure out ordering a replacement battery as I have time, and perhaps order a couple of smaller units for some other applications in the house.

One of these units is cheaper than the deductible on insurance, and I've had lighting just going overhead take out 2 tv's and such in different houses, 3 different events totalling thousands. My cyberpower protected the tower and computer I'm using now, but others in the house, router, etc were destroyed. You can't risk getting those hits on your insurance if you can help it. If only I'd had one hooked up to the garage door opener, lol. $61 would have saved me $500.

actually the only thing i can recomend is to have the alternator replace again for warranty and before starting the truck charge the batteries very well with a baterie charger make sure to charge them individually because with a low batterie the alternator has to put a lot of load and might burnt again
specially with dual batterie.

Battery replacement

The proper matched batteries must be used. They must be matched to the charging circuits. The batteries are using solder tabs to the circuit board. They are not user changeable. The batteries are solderd on to the circuit board.

Some industrial electronics suppliers can sell the batteries, or it would be best to order them from Philips. It would be best and safest for you to send the shavers to Philips service to have them change the batteries. The battery type depends on the model and series in the particular model. If the shaver is less than about 4 years old, many of the newer series batteries should be chargeable Lithium Oxide based.

I don't know your exact model, but most of their shavers use a security Torx tool to open them. The Torx screws are usualy hidden under rubber moldings, labels, or buttons that are glued on.

The security Torx tool looks like a 6 sided star with a security pin in the center. It is not compatible to the Allen standard key.

The batteries are just 2 rechargeable Ni-Cd AA's, soldered together at one end to form a connection. I popped in two regular AA batteries, formed a connection between them, and it started spinning again!
