A hard reset involves physically removing the battery from the smartphone and then reinserting it.To perform a hard reset, complete the following steps:
1) Remove the battery cover from the back of the BlackBerry smartphone. 2) Remove the battery, and then reinsert it after a few seconds. 3) Replace the battery cover.
To perform a soft reset, complete the following steps:
1) Press and hold down the ALT key on the smartphone. 2) While holding down the ALT key, press and hold down the right-hand CAP key. 3) With both of those buttons still pressed, press the DELETE key. The display on the Blackberry smartphone will turn off to indicate that the reset has started, and the keys can now be released.
Still if it is not working follow the step's:-
1) Go to messages.
2) Press the menu key and Select Option.
3) Select General option.
4) select SMS and Email inboxes.
5) Press menu key and select change the option, make it separate.

may bb 8100 had a red slash in the screen, the cost is i plug my bb 8100 in my laptop to get some songs, and i cant fixed it, i change my battery but it the same have slash.. pls help
