Question about Sony Grand WEGA KF50WE610 50" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Off Air? Morning. I just switched my DIRECTV from an old Scientific Atlanta receiver to a New DirectV HD DVR and into my Sony Wega (LCD). Problem is my old Scientific Atlanta had an input for off air antenna. No off air input on my new DIRECTV HD DVR. The old receiver picked up local channels in HD perfectly. Now when I run my off air antenna via the aux 75 ohm input the picture does not look like HD? Can I use a splitter to run the off air antenna thru the Directv HD Receiver? Or, does the off air have to run thru some other input/box?

Re: Off Air?

The Scientific Atlanta box was a cable box and recieved CATV signals. The Direct TV box is satellite only. You might check if it has a built in ATSC tuner for off air digital signals. Direct TV in most locations offers the major networks in HD format.

I Have a RCA Rear Projection SRS Focus Is it High Def ? Or Would it make a differance if i got a HD receiver From Directv ?

Look for the HD logo on the front of the set--if there and a early one it is HD READY which means it needs a box with HD connected to its rear HD input.

I have a Samsung HLP5063wx xaa and I am getting a HDMI not supported when I hook up my HD-DVR, any help on how to resolve this, PLEASE!!!

I fixed it, if anyone is having this problem, you will have to tell your Directv box to only accept 720p resolution, I only have one line hooked up to my Hd-DVR right now and I had to tell the Directv box that it was on a Single tuner not Dual, I re-booted the directv box and everything works. I hope this helps anyone w/ an older model DLP, It took me hours on the internet to find the answers I needed.

HDMI interface issues

If you swapped directv receivers and the problem followed to a different tv then there is something wrong with the directv receiver. Need to run satellite setup again on this receiver to fix. repeat satellite setup is accessible through the setup submenu by pressing menu from the directv remote. look under satellite submenu once in setup

We have the 61" Samsung. WE LOVE IT!!! We have a DirecTV DVR box. On the DirecTV remote there is a "format" button. It cycles through all the different options. (Pillar Box, Stretch, 720p,1080p, etc.) Adjusting the picture setting with the Samsung remote is not the same thing. Try using the cable remote......see if it works the same as mine.

I have the One for all Cinema 7 remote control. I need the code for the Directv HD Receiver Model H21-100

I gave up on the Cinema 7 remote control. I got it to turn the HD Receiver on and off by programing the L buttons but could not change channels. Although the Sony remote is very large, I programed it to operate the Receiver.

Thank you

Sony KP-57HW40 tv is what we have now and is this a high definition tv?

After the FEB 2009 cut over, your "OLD" tv will nolonger be able to receive OFF THE AIR signals as they will be broadcast over different frequencies. HOWEVER, as long as you subscribe to CABLE or SAT TV (Dish/Directv/etc) your old TVs will continue to work as they always have -- (because the signal is not OFF AIR) but you just won't have an HD picture.
