When installing my router wrt54GC v2.0 i encounter

please help,
when installing my router WRT54GC v2.0 i encounter a problem when i connect it properly saying it can't detect internet connection, but when i connect it improperly i have the internet connection but still i can't continue with the instalation, my connection works but it disconects sometimes and i think this is because i didn't finish the installation process completely.

More than likely you have a bad cable. Check or replace the cables. Its very common to have a bad connector on one or both ends.
