I have problems connecting to the internet. When I diagnose with windows it says that my computer is correctly configured but the device or resource (DNS server) isn't responding.

1.Open your network connections, If using windows xp click start/run/Type ncpa.cpl hit ok
windows vista/7 click start/search bar/type ncpa.cpl
2.Right click connection you want to connect to and hit properties.
3.Uncheck ivp6 and click on ipv4 to highlight it and hit properties.
4.Ensure obtain ip address automatically is checked as well as obtain dns server automatically. if not check them both and hit ok.
5.If this does not work open your command prompt. To do that click on start/all programs/accessories right click command prompt and hit run as administrator.
6. Once open write the following commands and hit Enter after
1. netsh int ip reset reset.log
2. netsh int ip delete arpcache
3. netsh winsock reset
4. ipconfig /flushdns
Restart your computer
7. If still unable to work, go to Control Panel/Device Manager/scroll down to network adapters/find your network adapter and see if there is an error shown usually you will see yellow question mark or attention mark. If there is right click on your network adapter and hit update driver. If no error shown right click on your network adapter and hit uninstall. Once uninstalled restart your computer again and your computer should recognize your adapter
8. if still unable to access the internet your will need to refer to your manufactor due to bad network adapter. Hope this helps

I am not able to install the sprintsmartview to my dell studio 17 computer i keep getting an error 1721.

Since this error seems to reference the "Windows Installer" which is separate from the Installshield engine, I would probably try updating that:
The error by Windows Installer Package happens in Windows Vista because the of custom actions set in the installer package fail with missing permissions, involving custom actions that scheduled for both immediate or deferred execution. Visual Studio custom actions run while impersonating the installing user but only run with standard user privilege, and not with elevated administrator privilege as required in Windows Vista, if the msidbCustomActionTypeNoImpersonate bit is not set. Even though Windows Vista prompts for privilege elevation, however, only custom actions that are running in the Local System account get elevated correctly, while custom actions that impersonate as the current user do not.
Thus, the error usually happens on older versions of setup installer which install or uninstall programs meant for earlier versions of Windows operating system, such as XP, 2000, Me and 9x. However, if you're the programmer or developer for the installer program, probably you can do much to change the bit or installer sequence to solve the issue. But, there are still resolutions to fix the error 1721 that happens in Windows Vista, and probably has more than one one solutions or workarounds that users can try to get the software program installed.
Run an elevated command prompt with Run as Administrator option to start the installation
This method will probably allow most failed .msi installer to install/uninstall probably. Simply open an elevated command prompt with Run as Administrator setting, and then execute the .msi executable.

Installing BT Voyager 105 on XP Pro PC shows newdev.dll error

I recently had this problem after buying a voyager 210 modem/router to replace the voyager 105 (in my case supplied for AOL broadband)

I tried to uninstall the voyager 105 and encountered exactly this problem - newdev.dll missing, Admin privileges required

After alot of Internet searching I found no answers. But in desperation tried this and it worked. I am by no means any computer expert so don’t blame me if this does not work for you, or damages your machine.

To install my 210 modem I was following instructions found here - But first I had to get rid of the 210

Here is what I did, exactly as I did it (some of it is probably unnecessary) Further below is a condensed version I expect would work.

1) Firstly I restarted in safe mode by pressing F8 in start-up ( I was doing this because i had remembered an administrator profile and considered attempting to uninstall from there.)

2) I logged on as the administrator.

3) Attempted to uninstall the voyager 105 via control panel and via the uninstall icon in the programme folder. - Both Failed with the above-mentioned problem.

4) I navigated to programme files. (Start> My computer> C drive> Programme files)

5) There I highlighted the folders "British Telecom”, "BT Voyager 105 ADSL modem", " Voyager Modem Drivers", "Voyager Test". I cut these folders wholesale and pasted them to my USB pen/stick (incase I needed to put them back)

6) I then ran disk cleanup (Start> All Programmes> Accessories> System Tools.)

7) Then I turned off my computer and unplugged the USB pen/stick and the USB and DSL cables from the back of the Voyager 105.

8)I turned the computer back on (starting up normally), logged on with my normal username which has admin privileges. Ran the driver install for my new router (previously downloaded from BT at –( It stated that a BT driver was already installed.

9) Navigated to add/remove programmes (Start> Control panel> add/remove programmes) selected the BT driver from the list selected uninstall …. AND IT DID IT! No error, or messages about newdev.dll or privileges.

10) This left me free to install my new driver and go through its install process ending in plugging the USB into the back of the modem and having internet again.

Here is what I expect would work

1) Turn on and log on to any account with admin privileges.

2) Navigate to programme files. (Start> My computer> C drive> Programme files).

3) Select and delete (or to be safe, cut and paste to a removable drive) the folders "British Telecom", "BT Voyager 105 ADSL modem", " Voyager Modem Drivers", and "Voyager Test".

4) Remove removable drive and run disk clean up (Start> All Programmes> Accessories> System Tools).

5) Then I turned off my computer and unplugged existing modem.

6) Turn on computer log back onto account with admin privileges. Navigate to add/remove programmes (Start> Control panel> add/remove programmes) selected the BT driver from the list selected uninstall.

7) Install desired drivers/modem.

If you find this works for you too and have asked this question elsewhere, please copy this solution so others can solve this problem too

Error when connecting usb wireless adapter

hi there, windows vista, as we all know is more focused on to the security... but it becomes very difficult if it detects other devices as an error...

With vista you can try to run the installation CD for the router, so that the vista knows that there is a driver for that router, without that it will not recognize the router and will keep detecting as an error...
