KDF60XF955 LCD Projection TV

This had the standard problem with this model of a failed lampovertempdevice. Installed Sony's A-1137-954-A kit and restoredlamp operation, but now have no picture but do have sound. Did Ido something wrong in taking everything apart to put in the newtempdevice or ???

As I said, the lamp is now working, but no picture is displayed. Lights up but no image. Somehow lost the signal driving the LCDs.
There is that special LVDS cable that hooks up the B board to the C board. What a piece of work that is. Ever have trouble with that?

HI did you just replace the temp device are you sure the problem wasnt with the lamp itself.
As the sound is working you know your getting power through the telly so that isnt the problem.
The best thing to do is have a look at the resistor around where the lamp is joined to the board check with good lightin and magnifying glass and look for damaged or melted resistors.
Because the problem is if the lamp has gone then it could be a resistor that caused the lamp to go.
So if you change the lamp and a resistor has gone it will just cause same problem.
Is the lamp working or not.
And when the telly stopped working did you lose the sound as well. All these types of telly have the same problem with the lamps and the resistors let me know how you get on ok

Hi you will need to check that all the cables are sitting in correctly as they are difficult to do they should only go in one way.
As the lamp is working fine then the chances are the problem is with a connector somewhere make sure they are fitted properly but remember dont touch anything on the board as the static in your body can short the board out.
When the lampovertempdevice went did you lose everything and it just shut down.
its difficult for me to tell you as i cant see the telly in front of me but as the lamp is workin you know the tempdevice is correct.
So i would check all cables are fitted securely then try again if still no joy then it could be a case of looking at the resistors around the input devices where you plug the dvd in and have you tried getting a picture that way through dvd that would narrow it down a bit.
Anyway you will need good ligh and good magnifying glass and check all resistors because when the temp device went this could have blown a resistor so check the resistor around that area. But just check all leads first as this sounds like your problem.
Be carefull not to touch anything else though as this could cause further problems let me know how you get on

No you didn't but sometimes when lamp goes out there is a fuse also goes with it. If the new worked for a short time or never worked then I woul look for an open fuse. I would need schematic to find. Are you can keep asking here until someone give more helpful info.

Thats caused by failed convergence ICs your model uses the STK392-560 ICs you will also need several 3.5 amp pico fuses and a couple of 5 amp pico fuses to do the repair. The Sony Type 1 convergence repair kit is the correct kit for your model. It contains the parts and the CD with repair instructions. The kits available from www.tvrepairworld.com

Sony LCD TV Model #KLV-23HR2 The timer LED blinks red constantly after having turned on the TV. THe power light stays steady green for about 5-10 seconds then the red light keeps blinking constantly.

This is a common problem an a failry easy DIY fix.

Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.
  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.

Tv gone green/blue and sometimes red in top right corner

If you have a Sony rear projection LCD TV then you have a failing optics block. LCD TV's are not affected by external magnets like CRT TV's were. The optics block issue will only get worse and needs to be repaired by a technician.
