Keeps saying to remove and check black cartridge.

This is a common problem on the HP PSCs. Unfortunately there is no simple fix - the electronics that control the cartridge sensing fail and are not DIY repairable.
Not what you want to hear, but when my PSC developed the same fault I ended up binning it as the cost of a new All-In-One was les than getting it repaired. Didnt buy another HP though !
