kazikeva... It's not very clear what stopped working; the motor, the mixer, what, in particular? You don't tell me how old your mixer is and how much it's been used, all relevant towards pointing me to the problem(s). The more detail you can provide, the better my answer will be towards helping solve your problem. Are you getting any sound when you hit the start knob, or is it just dead silence? If you have dead silence, then it is definitely a power issue, which means it a couple of things could be conspiring to make your mixer not run. It may be a bad controller assembly (the speed knob), or it could be the motor, but either way it's something you can check yourself. I'd start with the controller assembly and inspect that first. It's possible a connection has come loose. Unfortunately whole controller assembly is on a little PC board filled with resistors, capacitors and diodes, which was not meant to be 'home fixed'. My 'expertise' ends at being able to recognize a resistor from a capacitor, but I don't get much deeper than that. A local small appliance repair shop should be able to determine if the controller assembly is functioning properly or not. The next possibility would be with the motor itself, but electric motors are pretty simple mechanisms and generally don't fail. If you?re getting 'noise' from the motor but the mixer won't turn, then you've had a mechanical failure in the transmission box or planetary gear assembly of your mixer. The inspection and troubleshooting of the transmission is a DITY capability, particularly if your mixer is out of warranty. Just be sure to have the correct Part List manual around when you start to disassemble your mixer. You want Part No. 8212257 for your mixer, which you can download from KA customer service. I hope this helps! Howard, Burke, VA

The kitchenaid ice cream maker drive assembly does not fit on to my mixer because of a metal disk below the spring on the beater shaft. Is there a way of removing this disk and is it needed?
