Question about Whirlpool GHW9400 Front Load Washer

Whirlpool washing machine model GHW9460PWO, error code 11F

I researched and found that this is a communications error between the CCU and MCU. I have have cleaned all connector contacts on these two units but intermittent problem still exist. It may wash 5 loads fine then mess up on the next two. I have run the diagnostic check and that runs okay. Should I replace the CCU next?

Yes it may be in the MCU but I had one do this and it was in the CCU. Has it ever thrown a Fdl ??? Door lock code?? Thats another sign its in the CCU

    FDL is door lock. This is the first part to be tested, since it can be symptom of a wiring problem.

    The door lock is tested by reading impedance on the door latch contacts.
    If the door lock is OK, do the following troubleshooting for F11. The problem is usually CCU.

    F11 is communication error between CCU (main control unit) and MCU (motor control unit - additional control module connected to motor and to CCU, located in a sealed box inside the washer).

    This usually means that either CCU or MCU is defective. In some case the connectors or the wiring harness connecting the two modules is the problem.

    The tech sheet says:

    F11:Serial Communication Error
    Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly.
    Solution:
    * Check Wire Harness connectors to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
    * Check the Drive system for any worn or failed components
    * Check MCU

    The diagnostic is different depending on the model. The diagnostic is illustrated in the machine tech sheet, which is tucked inside the control panel assembly. Open control assembly and check. By the way, if you have f11 the diagnostic won't help. Machine must be tested.

    Washer displays an F11 error code. I replaced the MCU but still the F11 code. Wire harness is good.

    How to fix f28 error on my whirlpool frontloader washer


    Hi, Here is what the manufacture says about this error code and my comments will follow. SERIAL COMMUNICATION ERROR The communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and theMotor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly. Possible Causes/Procedure 1. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 2. Check wire harness connections to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU). ? Check connections of the CCU board within the housing. ? Make sure all grounding switches are engaged. 3. Check that the serial harness at the MCU is not mounted upside down. The wires should be to the left when facing the MCU connectors. 4. Check the drive system for any worn or failed components. 5. Plug in washer or reconnect power. 6. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic Test or any cycle This type of error is going to need the services of a factory trained service person. The trouble could be in multiple locations and hard to diagnois. Sorry to be the bearer of the bad news but this one is not a simple one
