Question about Linksys WRT300N Wireless Router

1 Answer

I have been able to configure the router for the pc's connected through the house. I'm having troubles getting the security lock on the wireless configuration to unlock and access. My laptop is detecting the router and the strength, but it says it can not connect to the internet.

The PSP game my son has is a different story. Any suggestions?

A SSID and security is step one. You need to hand out DHCP from something to get data to flow. Ensure you have DHCP enabled on something.

WRT54GR not connecting for wireless

To connect to your wireless router, the router's wireless settings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also the wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down and put it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption.
Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

What exactly message you get when u try to connect your PSP. However, here is simple few steps to configure your PSP, just see if u have missed something. (Router Configuration) open your browser and type and use admin as username and password.Apply your PSP MAC in the routers. for this go to Parameters > System> PSP Information in your browser of PSP. (PSP Configuration) Go to Settings >LAN>Infrastructure Mode>New Connection>Scan> now select the IP address of the Router and enter the WEP key which is written the router. Now you should be able to do Custom>Automatic>Do not use . Remeber you only select Do not USe if you dont browse through your PSP. Now Enter and this will InshahAllah solve your problem.

WIFI not working with Linksys wireless-g broadband router/Comcast

Unplugging the wireless router and connecting it again should not have altered the wireless connection/configuration. You have connected the cables correctly because the Internet works when you connect a LAN cable to the router.
The Linksys wireless configuration or the wireless card configuration in the computer was changed it to lose the wireless connection. The wireless card configuration needs to be changed to match the wireless router's settings or change the Linksys with new configuration settings and configure the wireless card accordingly.
To secure your router with a login password and wireless security, please follow my instructions - click on this link :-

My Mac and my WPN824

All wireless routers do not accept unencrypted communications. Have the Macs in either/both cases either been moved from an environment requiring encryption to one not requiring encryption or requiring encryption with a different key. This also occurs when moving from a non-encrypted environment to an encrypted environment. Another possibility is that the wireless router in the new location does not broadcast it's SSID (name) and requires knowledge and entry of its name for access generally along with an encryption key. The person that setup the wireless router should be able to answer these questions and assist with the setup of the Mac's wireless adapter. Research would need to be made and I do not have a current Mac to test with to walk through the current process however this should provide the information for a knowledgeable Mac person to interface with person that configured the router or has the router configuration information to complete the changes necessary to allow access. If a short term solution is required and wired connections are possible (wired ethernet ports exist on both the router and the computer) using a wired connection to the router can be utilized to avoid the whole wireless configuration issue.
