CF-71 battery LED always flashing

I have a fairly new battery for my fairly old CF-71. Last night after using it during the day, I noticed that the red battery LED started flashing. The computer died so I inserted the AC plug. The battery will not recharge. The LED flashes even when the battery is out of the notebook. The AC adapter is fine. The notebook operates when on AC, and the battery LED flashes. Is there something I can replace easily inside the computer. It is not worth more than a few hundred $$, but it still does fine for my application.

Re: CF-71 battery LED always flashing

I would say bad battery, batteries can short and just die, they usually get hot too, try a new batt. don't buy a new one if you can even find it as it will cost allot, what I do is I have a local battery store replace the internal batteries on the battery pack, there are also places online that can do that for a fair price

for example a DELL battery pack to purchase was $185 I had one rebuilt for $25

Panasonic CF 50 battery light flashing red light

A "Red" Flashing Battery Light on ALL
Panasonic Toughbook Models means
that the battery is no longer functional
and can no longer hold a charge properly.

If you really require a battery then you
may be able to order a replacement
battery from the Panasonic Parts Dept.

An original battery cost might exceed the
value of an old CF50 so be aware and
take note.

It is possible to completely remove the
battery pack and use the CF50 without
a functional battery pack with no problems.

Run the Dell Diagnostics Utility by pressing Fn+Power button at the same time.

If the Diagnostics doesn't come up, your motherboard needs replacement.

Panasonic toughbook cf-48 two batteries went bad within a day

Place battery in freezer for 2 hours / remove and recharge, might make it last longer. (Removes any "memory" in them)

Might be worth checking the charger to ensure its working OK. Just becuase the light is on doesn't always mean its working.

Hi there

Is this regarding the small button cell battery on the motherboard which holds the time, or the larger battery pack?

My compaq presario c500 doesn't respond to the start button

try to turn on the laptop without the battery and only the power cord plug in.

if your laptop works with this you need new battery or update bios ( there might be fix for battery monitor)

if not, call service support, might be motherboard issue

let me know an update

My Compac Armada M700 does not power up.

Had the same problem with My Compaq M700 No Boot Or Post. Battery Light Flashes 8 Times, Have to Wait 24 to 48 hrs sometimes longer to get Laptop to Start. Tryed the DC Converter Board Change No Difference same Problem. Noticed When Laptop Did Start Clock Time Was always a Little Off 2-4 Hours sometimes more. So Figure CMOS Problem With Time Issues. Read About Battery Memory Transitor Voltage spike Detection Issues Corrected With Newer Bios Flash at HP Supports. So I Flashed Bios With Latest 686h. During the First Boot After Reflash Battery LED Did flash No Start, After pushing the power button again it Started. And has Every since. So Far Laptop Now Boots Everytime and CMOS Checksum Seems To Keep Time Correct In Windows. The Bios Flash Corrects a Voltage Spike Detecting Transistor In The Charging Circuit. During First Start after flash Bios will run system test on the charging system and Correct CMOS. Worked for Me Hope this Helps a Few.
