Had the error message. Thought it might be a problem with the cartridge. Bought a new Canon cartridge. Still the same problem.

You need to take all inks out and install 1 at a time to see what the display says after each. Sometimes you get a defective ink tank and it will report on the wrong one. Canon will replace a defective tank within 30 days of date of purchase.
