Question about Cyberhome CH-LDV 700B Portable DVD Player

1 Answer

7" LCD Video screen Ribbon Cable - need replacement - can anyone help?

After only about 12 uses, our CH-LDV 700 started showing a loss in vertical and horizontal hold on the video. After checking that the video to a TV screen was OK and only the 7" internal video was affected. I disassembled the unit and found that the ribbon cable that passes through the hinge had broken due to it's folded and captive design were it would rest on the support post. I've temporarily jumped the broken trace and the unit works as designed. Does anyone know were to locate a replacement cable? Or know of a manufacture for this cable? Thank you and have a great day, John

You may be able to find a comparable cable on some other brand, but Cyberhome seems to be defunct. An alternative is to find another unit of the same make and brand and scavenge what you need...accordianman

My Toshiba M55 Laptop has a vertical 'ribbon' of flickering. Is it fixable?

Maybe your screen is going bad or the video card inside the computer is going bad. Try connecting another monitor to the computer to isolate the problem. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok without the vertical ribbon then your lcd screen is bad and your video card is good. If the Borrowed monitor displays the same vertical ribbon as your lcd screen then your video card inside the computer has an issue.

The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

I need the left hand LCD screen piece for my portable dvd player.

There is no thing as a left side piece to a LCD panel, you need a new pan , or you have a bad driver board, or bad connectiond from ribon cable.

My laptop has vertical lines about 3" at the bottom of the screem. where the start button

Unfortunately this is not a good sign, it will be one of two things, the LCD panel is defective and will need to be replaced, or the video cable from the motherboard to the screen has come loose and must be reseated back in place. There should be a spare monitor hooked to the computer to rule out the video graphics card on the motherboard.

Screen blanks out on certain positions on laptop

This sounds like you have a short in the LCD ribbon cable and it will need replacing, in most cases you will have to replace the screen but if you can find the exact ribbon cable, replacing should do the trick.

Display on my Dell 710M has started having vertical lines on half the screen. everthing else fine. need new display?

Vertical lines on half the screen:
Usually the display ribbon cable or the LCD display. At the shop we find out replacing ribbon cable first.
In some rare occasion it can be the display adapter built on the motherboard. You can test the video adapter connecting the laptop to an external display.
regards.

ABOUT 15 VERTICAL LINES ARE SHOWING ON MY TOSHIBA SATELLITE P105 LAPTOP. WHAT SHOULD I DO

Could be the LCD itself, the ribbon cable between the motherboard (or the video card) and the LCD. Or the video chip itself. Hooking up an external monitor and enabling it (usually by using the Fn key and another key that looks like a monitor). If this looks ok, then it is either the ribbon cable or the LCD itself. Good luck!

Sound like you have a back-light issue with the LCD. Not sure what kind of technology they use to back-light the LCD, but on all LCD monitors and TV's they use CCFL. Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps can burn out or can get damaged. Not sure if the DVD player uses them or not, you just need to open the back panel of the LCD and see what they use. Also CCFLs need an Inverter circuit to convert the DC current to AC current. If it uses CCFLs than it can only be 2 things the Lamps or the Inverter circuit. Check the lamps, if they look dark at the ends, than most likely a bad lamp. If the lamps look fine, than you will need a volt meter to check the status of the inverter.

Blue/black vertical line in the middle of screen

Sounds like a bad connection on a ribbon cable or plug comming or going to the LCD display. This is something you should not try to fix as these circuits are very very fradgile and you can easily break or tear a ribbon cable . Call the manufacturer to get a tech to assit you. Good Luck
