Kodak 5100 Needs Both Cartridges To Print?

The color cartridge is empty. I am trying to print in grayscale. The printer will not print anything until the color cartridge is replaced... Why is this... I don't need to use color!

Unfortunately, you cannot used the printer if one of the ink cartridge is empty., compare to the other printers you can print a black text or gray scale if the color is empty or one of the cartridge is empty.

All kodak printers work the same both cartridges should have ink on ink before you can use It.
