Re: Aspire 3680-2574 Headphone jack

Did you try another set of head phones? the jack for the headphone where it was soldered most likely broke off you can take apart and try and resolder it.

Please check the headphone on any other music device to check if it working fine. If yes, then you may need to reinstall the sound drivers, please follow the steps below:

Click Start Menu> All Programs> Acer eRecovery management> Restore> Restore Application & Drivers> Contents> Select Realtek and install it

I have an Acer Aspire Notebook. When I plug headphones into the audio jack there is no sound, however, the sound works fine from the notebook speakers. Can anyone help me?

Hi, May I know if have tried alternate headphones and if they are the same?Does the headphone work when wiggled within the port if yes then the issue is with the headphone jack being loose and you would need to send the computer for a repair if covered by the manufacturers warranty as the headphone jack needs to be replaced. Thank you for your time.

Got the headphones jacked in. The problem is the speakers are 'on' at the same time and cant be shut off. Please help and thanks.

Your headphone jack's legs inside the jack are probably slightly sprung and still shorting to the speakers. Sometimes you can spray some compresses air into the jack to try to dislodge any lint, dust, etc. The only other thing you can try (without taking the computer apart) is to spray some electrical contact cleaner into the headphone jack, then work the headphone jack in and out a few times, hoping to clean the contacts inside. Other than those things, you will probably have to take the computer apart to replace the jack, or have it serviced. If you google the problem, you will find a lot of information about taking laptops apart.

Sound is working but internal speaker is not working

Connecting headphones to the system will disabled the internal speakers until the headphone jack is disconnected, at which such time the internal speakers should function again.

If you disconnect the headphones and the internal speakers are not re-activated, then there may be damaged to the microswitch in the jack. (Try rebooting after the headphones are disconnected too)
