Yesterday we subscribed to a DSL service (Hughesnet) and also had a TrendNet wireless router installed in our PC so my Mac G5 could use the service, too. Come to find out, my Mac doesn't have a wireless card--it was handed down to me from our college's networked student lab. The Hughesnet rep left me a Netgear WG111 wireless USB adapter, but it didn't seem to work when I plugged it into one of the USB ports. Now, I'm not sure what I need, or what else I need to know about my computer, to get my computer online. Recommendations? Thanks!

- Oops! Answers beget more questions: I see by the driver's download instructions that I have to choose the correct adapter in the Configure list. Last night the Netgear adapter didn't show up in the list. Is it possible I didn't put the Netgear wireless adapter thumb drive in the right USB port? Or...? It is unfortunately version 2, by the way.
What you probably need is a driver for your adapter and that is easy to fix. Go to Netgear's support page here and check which version of the adapter you have (version 1, 2, or 3). I personally hope it is version 3 since the older ones are limited in their compatibility with Mac OS.
Then follow the link for your version. On the next page you will see a tab saying "Downloads", where you can find the necessary driver.
Just download and install.
If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

I am running Vista via cable extreme, boy have there been some issues for about 14 months, get to the problem at hand , on start up (boot) before the net connects, this appears, Load Sercomm Library Error or Version is too old. can't get rid of it, tired of uninstalling, is there a quick fix ? Yes, i am using the latest download from Netgear wg111v2-3-4-0. Double click smartwizard, same thing, once i click "ok", all works fine, till i reboot. Thanks in advance.
I have same problem receiving "load commser library" error message every time I boot up. Just purchased this adapter and installed on HP Pavilion N5425 running Windows XP Home edition with Service Pack 2 installed.
