Samsung Over range Microwave

My microwave has begun to beep each morning starting from 2:00am -2:30am . When I check the unit the display has this on it --SE-- , Most of the buttons on the keypad will not work, I have unpluged the unit . It comes back on I reset the clock & everthing is fine , but about 20 minutes later the process starts again. I have found if I unplug the unit & just leave it for the rest of the night the next morning when I replug the unit in & set the time everything. works fine the rest of the day , However the problem starts back that evening again around 2:00am . Is th --SE-- a error code , What is causing this problem? Could it have anything to do with the change from day light saving time , since it seems to start each evening around 2:00am

Hi,
The same error message "SE" just happened to my Samsung Microwave and it is less than 1 yr. old. I have tried unplugging it and waiting. It also happens at night. I am not sure what time since I don't feel like staying up watching the microwave break. Has a solution been found since my receipt has not been.

The -SE-error is a shorted keypad.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

If you would like to have us do this for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.

We're happy to help you and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

SOURCE: Samsung Over range Microwave

This is really odd. I would first suspect a setting under "My Choice" (press "My Choice" then 1, 2, 3, or 4 and check settings.

Or maybe a failing sensor.

But overriding all of this is the fact that it happens at roughly the same time each day, which is why I go back to suspecting an odd setting. Nothing in the owner's manual refers to this.

So I would recommend contacting Samsung for assistance. 1-800-SAMSUNG (1-800-726-7864), or see http:WWW.SAMSUNGSUPPORT.COM

Hi I have a Samsung SMH9187 micowave that is dead (no display, light, fan, mirowave).

Sounds like the main fuse blew. It's either near where the power cord enters the cabinet, or behind the control panel (if an over the range unit).

You may also have some type of failure in the high voltage circuit; based on your description of the symptoms.

The SE indicates a short in the keypad membrane, but to cure this! the whole keypad control board should be changed if effort to resolve is decided, I would also suggest checking the pricing.

Samsung Over range Microwave

I have the same "SE" problem. After reading this thread here, I realise it's likely the keypad problem, which explains the microwave's behaviour (no key was working).

So there were two possibilities. (1)keypad failure and (2) bad connection.

Obviously the easiest thing I could start with is to clean the connection. So I first take the cover off. Behind the keypad is a circuit board. In addition to a few connections between the circuit board and other parts of the microwave, there is a ribbon connecting the keypad to the circuit board.

Loose the plastic on the connection, pull the ribbon out from the socket. I then used spirit to clean the exposed copper connections. Put every thing back to place.

Voila, it's working again and we have been living happily ever after.....
