Can't put a VHS in

I have a Daewoo/Trutech DRT-S810 DVD/VHS recorder combo. I bought it about 6 months ago but just got it out of the box today and connected it. The DVD portion works fine but it won't put a VHS tape in that side and I don't want to force it in. Any suggestion on how to fix this problem

Re: Can't put a VHS in

If you have anything sitting on the unit a video tape will not go in the slot. Had the same problem with my unit took the tv off the unit and works fine!

Re: Can't put a VHS in

If the VHS isnt going in it may require a little force as the track might have gotten stuck with dust. if you think its something else i suggest you openj it up and see if these is anything logged in the carriage way or if the tray might just be stuck. once it is open simply insertthe vhs tape and keep pressing in on it until the machine takes it in. while pressing keep you eye on the carriage and see hwat might be stuck as to preven the tape from entering. BUT I THINK IT MIGHT JUST REQUIRE A LITTLE FORCE as it may be binded with lack of use

did you check the +5 volts if exactly? and the +9voltsif exactly? now if you got over voltages in the said voltages you got abnormal power oscillation! or did you check the regulator? maybe the ADJUST Pin is in abnormal function! and try to unload the power board then you can test run the power board by checking the voltages in secondary.

RCA 8295n dvd-vcr combo starts recording from VHS tape to disk and then stops.

Is the VHS tape a store bought movie or show?

MacroVision and other copy protection systems are put into store bought tapes and discs of movies and shows, and are read by your recording equipment. Once it reads this, it stops recording.

Does the screen turn red before it stops? This is one of the indications that MacroVision is stopping you.

Trutech DRT-S810 Does not power on

known issue with this unit. The power supply used in this unit is below quality and is often the cause of power not getting to rest of the unit. The company is from china and does not have a usa warranty service since they operate under the daewoo umbrella.

The power supply needs to be changed. Not sure how you could do that since this item is from china and I could not find parts for this unit.

The DVD recorder is like a PC internal drive. Pull the 4 pin molex connector and check the voltages across 1&3, 2&4. Should have a (+ or -) 5volt, and (+ or -) 12volt (you can compare with a PC's voltage across the same kind of connector if you want). If you don't have a 5 & 12 volt reading your power supply is probably bad. Optionally confirm DVD recorder works by removing and attaching to a (spare?) PC.

HELP! I can't figure out how to Connect my Sylvania DVD/VCR Combo to my older TV

Even if you do get it connected you cannot copy from vhs to dvd as you have bought a vcr recorder with dvd player, not a dvd recorder. You can only record to the vcr tape from a dvd, in the players controls.
