Question about Brother MFC-845CW multi-function All-In-One InkJet Printer
My brother has new ink cartridges and still does not recognize them in there- I have tried cleaning it, but it will not clean, it just sits there. HELP, I am about to throw it across the room!
Something that has worked for some Brother owners to get cartridges recognised.
1. With your MFC powered up, open it up and remove the cartridge you are having a problem with, then close the MFC, leaving it powered up. It should report that there is no cartridge in the machine.
Still with the MFC powered up, open it up and reinsert the ink cartridge, then close the MFC. It should either ask if you have replaced a cartridge or go into its cleaning mode.
Answer "yes" to "have you replaced cartridge?" and it should either "print" or "clean" and then "print".

Make sure that the claps are all secured (you can hear a click when it snapps into position).
Watch the lcd display: does it ask you something? If yes press the 1 button to compute the cart change.
If that doesnt work:
Did you use generic inc carts?
If yes, the led control is stained and has a short circuit. You need a new cart holder as a spare part.
If no and you have used original brother carts, take all carts out. Unplug machine from power outlet. wait a minute. replug to power. machine demands carts. reinstall carts and give answer to displayed questions.
