Problem for Google Gmail
I want to receive and send my gmail emails via MS Outlook
I want to receive and send my gmail emails via MS Outlook at my work place but I believe company's proxy do not let them to pass through. I am currently using the MS Outlook connector to view and send hotmail emails and it works perfectly but gmail does not work too. I guess Outlook Connector uses a port that is allowed in the proxy.
Do you know how I can solve my problem?

- sorry, I did not say I wanted to use the IMAP method instead of POP. However, even the POP method did not work. Outlook could not find the server. I think it has to do with my company's proxy settings and this is the problem I tried to workaround. any idea?Nov 04, 2009
- I am convinced that is has to do with company's setting as the same PC at home in my private network is capable to get the gmail emails. this is also proved by the fact that once I fire up the company's VPN, then, I can not get the gmail emails anymore.Nov 04, 2009
- The OPS guy won't help me as I am not sure it matches company's policy...which is weird as I can see the gmail emails in IE. However, what I am surprised is that hotmail account in MS Outlook works perfectly if I use the Outlook connector. I guess, this one is using a method or a port that overtake the company's settings. do you know how Outlook Connector works?Solution #1

You can send and receive emails of Gmail using MS Outlook.
Please follow the steps
Open Gmail
Click on "Setting"
Click on point "3 Configure your email client (e.g. Outlook, Eudora, Netscape Mail)
Configuration instructions
You will be able to see setting for all different email clients.
Pop3 forwarding of gmail works but might it little tweaks to get it working.
I have the same setting and it works fine with me.

Do not forget to enable pop in your email account.

- It has nothing to do with your company proxy setting, unless you are using company customized gmail account.Pop3 forwarding of gmail works but might it little tweaks to get it working.
