Sharp R-9H84B-display black, cleared display shows "Conv Mix, 88:88 Auto". Short time all dark again. Hit clear happen 2 times then, all dark, no power, can't clear won't start, nothing works.

R-9H84B - May 29, 2017

I would suggest pulling the control board out and looking on the foil side (opposite the component side) for "ring cracks," most likely on the low voltage transformer's connections.

The board may have the screen-printed reference designator "T1" near the low voltage transformer.

Also be sure the fuse is not easy to turn with your fingertips when it is in the holder. If it is, the fuse holder is too loose and must be replaced (not just squeezed with pliers).

You can order a fuse holder, part number WB06X10034 for $6.49 (subject to change) from the Pros here.

If you have any keypad issues, please note that the membrane keypads for this model have long been discontinued.

Why won't my microwave oven work?

No, it's not worth the effort required to replace the control module - unless it is a commercial model.

Call service error

There is a fault in the magnetron circuit somewhere. Do not mess with this yourself because there is lethal high voltage present even when the microwave is unplugged. Call a service tech.

I am having a problem with my Panasonic Microwave oven. the operating panel is a touch type one. Now whenevr I am pressing any button, I am not getting any beep sound nor the display panel is showing any...

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

This can happen when there is a power failure. Usually there is a PF in the display but you can also get 88:88

Try this first: Press stop / pause or cancel then clock and try and set the time. If at that time you do not get any beeps your control board most likely has a problem. To dig deeper if you wish to have more assistance I need your complete model number to possibly troubleshoot.

R-209BK Sharp Microwave buttons inoperable

I had this problem too:
it turns out that it (apparently) just needed some 'warm-up' time!

After being plugged in for about 15 to 30 minutes,
the buttons suddenly "came to life"...

Note that when it's flashing 88:88 you are supposed to _start_ with the 'Stop/Clear' button. After that, set the clock (press "Clock", enter the time with the number pad, then press Clock again).

Hope that helps.

GE profile microwave

Most likely problem is your Smart card has fried. Its located on the removable panel that your display is attached to.If you remove the screws that open this Clock Panel (un plugged from power first) the display panel will swing down and you will see the circuit board I mention (Smart card/control board ).Look for a visible burn on this board. If you see one ,replace the board. How do i set clock for time of day

You can download your owner's manual free here.

From the manual:

SETTING THE CLOCK - When the microwave oven is plugged into an outlet, the oven will display " 0:00 "

1. Press the CLOCK button; the hour digit will blink
and the clock indicator will light.

2. Press the number keys to set current hour.

3. Press the number keys to set current minute.

4. Press AM/PM to choose AM or PM.

5. Press the CLOCK button again; the display will
show the present time. After the clock has been
set, the time will appear with blinking colon,
unless the oven is cooking or defrosting.

- To reset the present time in the display window when the oven is off, press the CLOCK button and

- If you make a mistake when setting the time, press the STOP/CLEAR button.

- To recall the actual time while the oven is cooking or defrosting, simply press the CLOCK button
and the display will show the actual time for three seconds.

Flashing 88:88 display - no keypad response - no light

I’ve read through your problem in an attempt to find a solution to my own similar issue with my microwave oven. Other solutions (like unplug appliance overnight and reconnect to power source the next morning) did not work for my appliance.

Just as I was about to call it quits and go out to purchase a new microwave; I gave it one last try. This time, instead of pressing any and every single button on the keypad, I decided to press BOTH the "Stop/Clear" AND "Start" buttons AT THE SAME TIME. . . . . Voilà! This worked for me, but sadly, it's now May-2008 and I'm pretty sure you're own microwave is long gone since your posting appears to have been quite some time ago. Well, hopefully others that stumble through these pages with similar issues may find some assistance with my approach. Oh, and btw. . .I got this idea (which worked) from remembering the instructions on how to reset my cellphone. Many thanks, ~paul
