Need model number,if filter is on top, pull it out and take out two screws.get staight blade screw driver and put it in seam between the top of dryer and the cabinet and pop up on left and right side,{there are two clips holding the top on,one on the right the other on left side}, unplug door switch wires on right side and you'll see two 5/16 screws one on left and other on right around 4 inches down from the door switch, now grab top of front panel and pull up,there are two clips on bottom of cabinet that panel clips into, you'll see the fuse on the top of blower wheel housing, the fuse could also be located in the back of dryer too that's why you should send model number, hope this helps, while your in the dryer see if it needs to be cleaned out, that's what usually pops the fuse, check the lint filter duct, vac the inside of dryer and blow out the vent line, make sure the flapper is blowing open outside

Frigidaire GLGQ642A Gas Dryer Problem - runs warm - cycles hot then cool

Hi,

It normally takes about 45 minutes for a dryer to dry a full load. If your dryer is taking more than an hour, check these.

Vent Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance.

Heating element Your dryer's heating element may be partially burned out. If it is, your dryer still heats, but at such a low temperature that it takes three or four times as long to dry the clothes. If the element is partially burned out, replace it.

Internal ductwork Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum, contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Cycling thermostat Although this isn't a common problem, one of the thermostats that controls the temperature in your dryer may break and cause the dryer to heat poorly. If so, you need to replace it. The thermostat is usually a small, round, black device mounted to an oblong steel plate. The plate is mounted to the internal ductwork with two screws.

Dryer Troubleshooting Electric Dryer won t Heat

If your electric dryer is spinning around but there is no heat to dry your clothing then this tip is for you.

82e79db.jpg

There are typically three reasons why the electric dryer does not make heat.
  1. the electric heating element has gone bad
  2. the thermal cut-out switch has opened up (activated)
  3. the high-limit thermostat has failed
  4. 110v power only going to the dryer.

Before doing anything make sure that you check for 220v power at the back of the dryer. The motor and the control components can and do run on 110v power. The dryer can start and spin on 110v power but will have no heat symptoms. The electric heating element must have 220v power to make any heat.

None of the three parts are very expensive parts and all of them can be replaced for under a hundred bucks. When ordering parts for your dryer it is best just to order all of them to make sure that you do not have to pull the thing apart soon again just because you failed to replace an old part when you had it apart.

To get to where the heating parts are you will need to remove a panel of the dryer. To determine which panel, check to see where your lint screen is. If your screen is on the top of the dryer then you will access the heating components by removing the back panel.

f09eead.jpg

If your dryer lint screen is in the door of the dryer then you have a bit more difficult time. The access can be obtained by removing the bottom panel in the front. This is held fast by either screws on the bottom or by retaining clips in the seams a couple of inches in from each side of the dryer. A putty knife is a good tool to release the clips with.

Make sure that you unplug the dryer before checking any of the heating components. For information as to where the different components are you can do a search for “appliance parts” and then enter you model number in one of the parts supply web sites. Most of them have “exploded” diagrams of the different machines so you can tell where the parts you are looking for are located. These sites also are where you would order the parts you need. Be sure to check a couple of different ones to be sure you are getting the lowest price. The prices can vary from site to site and no one is always the cheapest.

When checking to see which part is bad you will need an electric meter with a resistance scale. The heating element will give you a reading of 9-13 OHMS if the element is good. The thermal cut-out and the high-limit will each read 0 OHMS if they are good. If you get any readings other than that replace the component.

27c294a.jpg

The heating element is located in the heater box. The high-limit will be mounted to the heater box closest to the element. The thermal cut-out is mounted a bit further away and is a safety just in case the high-limit fails.

As I stated before it is advisable to replace all these parts at once for the best results.

After replacing the parts reinstall all parts and then plug the dryer back in to check the operation. You should now be making heat to dry once again.

I replaced the heating element with a kit I ordered on line, still is not heating up. I pulled the front off to see if the coils were heating up and nothing. Where do I go from here? Thanks

On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

THE DRYER WON'T DRY, ITS COLD

Hello there:
If your dryer will not heat up during it's cycle please try the folowing suggestions
Heating element
Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable. Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.) Wiring

The dryer stopped heating. I ordered a new

the one you saw farther up on the heater casing is the temperature fuse. It is a possibility that it is blown as that could cause the same problem so its worth replacing it. If it continues not to heat you should have a service tech come and check out the machine as you may have an issue with the control panel on the machine which is not something you can easily replace.
