Lennox MS8 heat mode never shuts off

Is it the blower that doesn't shut off or the heating unit?

Heat pump compressor wont come on in heat mode, works fine in cool mode, we get heat occaisionally for about 2 min, then the compressor shuts off. it is a fridgedaire window unit.

Try setting the thermostat at a normal heat setting. By raising the temperature too high the unit thinks that the heat pump won't be effective and go into strip heat mode.

My Lennox MS7 heat pump was installed about a year ago and hasn't had any problems until last week. It has started changing settings (like on or off, higher temperature, light on or off) without prompting...

Go to the unit locate the control module. Take wires to thermostat out. Now jump from R to Y your AC should come on. Jump R to W your heat should come on. Jump R to G your blower should come. If you have done these and it stay on or run as it should then you need a new THERMOSTAT.

We have a new a/c and the system has heat strips. For a/c. we have had the thermostat set on AC at 72degrees. Now that it is getting colder and may need some heat in the house, do we switch the...

If your thermostat has an emergency heat setting this means you have a heat pump system.
Yes you need to set the thermostat to heat for heating the house.
The emergency heat setting should never be used unless your outside unit is not functioning.
The emergency heat setting overides the heat pump (the outside unit will not be energized).
The emergency heat setting will run the auxillary heat (heat strips) only.
When the thermostat is set in the heat position the heat pump will run to heat your house.
If the heat pump can't keep up (extreme cold) then then the auxillary heat will kick in to augment the heat pump until it satisfies the thermostat settings. If your room temperature gets 2 degrees below your thermostat setpoint, your auxillary heat will kick on. Example, say you are going to be gone a couple of days and you turn your heat down to 60 degrees. When you return and it is 60 degrees in your house, you turn the thermostat up to 70 degrees. Since you are turning the temperature up 2 degrees or more (10 degrees in this case) from the 60 degree room temperature then the heat pump will come on and the auxillary heat strips. The unit will continue heating like this until the temperature in the house gets to 69 degrees and the heat strips will turn off and the heat pump will continue to run until the 70 degree setpoint is reached.
Hope this helps.

I have a Lennox model CB19-51-1P air handling unit with HP19-511-1P compressor heat pump unit. I just turned the heat on for the first time this season. And I am getting low heat volume. The heat pump...

first thing you need to check is if the reversing valve is working you maybe running your A/C with the heat strips on depends on the t-stat your using some heat pumps will bring the strips on with a high degree difference in setting and room temp .

1- turn t-stat to heat set temp 10 degrees above room temp if you have a programable t-stat it will have a time delay on it allow to for the outdoor unit to come on 2 to 5 minute usually .
2- walk around to the outdoor unit when it comes on feel the big line the insulated one and see if it is hot or cold let it run for a 5 minutes peel back the insulation and gently grab the line with your hand it maybe real hot so be careful if this line is hot then your heat pumps is working mechanically and if it is just warm then you may need the charge topped off

there are so many different option's from this point i will need to know the findings of this test first thanks : Michael

AC Condenser motor will stop at 1pm but inside unit is still running but no AC. If I turn the AC unit breaker unit off and then an hour later turn it back on. The unit runs fine all day until 1pm. Had a...

Hi, the tech should have been able to figure the stat out with out a manual to see why the condenser is shutting off at 1:00 P.M. This is unusual for this to happen, unless it was winter and this is a heat-pump going into defrost, but just the fan would shut down. Does this unit have a box on it that was installed by your electric company that shuts the unit off during high peak conditions in the summer? This would cause it to shut down at the same time everyday. If not, it would have to be something in the thermostat that is set for it to shut off at that time. It still does not make since, as it would shut both the indoor and outdoor unit off, not just the condenser. Are you saying that just the condenser fan motor is shutting off, but the compressor continues to run until it shuts off on high head pressure when the fan stops, or does the complete outdoor unit shut down fan, compressor and all at that time??. It sounds to me like this outdoor unit has a time delay relay that has a fault in it may be shutting it off at this time daily? Please let me know if its just the condenser fan motor that shuts off, or if the complete unit is shutting off all together, this will help .

Defrost Cycle Problems with Heat Pump

It's a defrost board issue. The timer on the board or something similar is hanging up. Unfortunately the solution is to replace the board. By lowering the temp. on the T-stat you are resetting the timer on the board. As you see that only works until the next cycle.

Electric furnace blows cold air before and after warm air.

It is normal. Your house has to go down a couple more degrees because the heat pump is not working. You can solve this by rewirng you thermostat. Take off the wire that goes to Y and tape off. Then take the wires that are marked w and e or w1 and put the wires to yellow. Do not run ac with it wired like this. If you need more information please post me back
