If I remember correctly then the double button on the side of the phone with one arrow pointing up and one arrow pointing down controls mirrored pics and flipped pics. Louise.

No image through view finder

Take the lens off, is the mirror stuck up? If it is then thats why you cant see through the view finder. It should come down after you take a photo. You can try to gently push the mirror down. This is caused by the mirror box warping due to heat or being dropped. Try it a few times and if it still sticks, more expensive to get fixed than the camera is worth so look for a 'new' camera on ebay. do not spray anything like CRC or WD40 into it, makes things worse.

A mark on the reflector mirror

You can remove the lens and clean the mirror very carefully. This will not affect the image quality of the captured photo-- since the lens flips up and the image is transferred directly to the sensor.

Mirror isn't staying down

That camera is going to have to be sent to a repair facility for repair. It has a major problem with the shutter or mirror box mechanism.

Check the printer properties in the printers folder. You may have accidentally clicked on an option that makes the printer print in mirror image.

Bottom 3/4 of photos are black

Check out this website http://www.lotek.nu/misc/EOS_300D_sub-mirror_repair/

I had the same problem. You can check to make for sure by removing your lens, and carefully lifting your mirror. Does the sub mirror underneath flatten against the other one when you lift it? That's probably what is in the way creating your 3/4 "black" picture. I just repaired mine as in this website, and the mirror moves great now! Of course, I'm used to taking apart laptops and such. If you have a warranty yet, contact Canon. It is a defective issue on there part.

Image is half dark, despite lens changes

Hi there
The blacked out part is the bottom of the photo therefore the obstruction is at the top of the frame on the camera.
Try the camera on the BULB setting without a lens on & look into the throat of the camera. You should see what is not clearing the CCD completely.
It could be the sub-mirror which is a little mirror behind the main one for the AF function or a shutter blade not clearing enough.
I would go for the first one.
It could be because.....
1. the sub-mirror spring coming off or broken
2. the sub-mirror is glided by a post on the side of the mirrorbox & this could of come adrift.

Most repairers can deal with this fault. If the spring has come adrift you should be able to pop it back in place.
All this may not solve your problem but it will at least give you better idea of what you are dealing with.

Camera won't take a picture

It could be that the shutter has gone out or the mirror is not going up they are only rated to last for so many shots. That is what canon told me when my 10d did the same thing. I dont remember what the repair cost was.

LCD/Recording Picture

This is becoming a common problem on the Digital Rebel. The pin that activates the sub-mirror ( for autofocus ) has broken off and the mirror box will have to be removed to replace it. It's about a $150 repair.
