I can not find any contrast controls for the laptop monitor. The image and colors are very dull. I have the brightness at 100% which is the best setting I can achieve. But I can't find any way to set contrast or otherwise adjust color to be near anything acceptable. Any suggestion will be much appreciated. byron@byroncallas.com

Try right-clicking on an empty spot on your windows desktop, and from the drop-down menu select properties.
In the Appearance tab you can select different settings and themes which have several contrast schemes; one of them might work for you (one of them did for me!)
