It may not play because you must associate an application to open the file (powerdvd, windvd etc...) just right click on the file and select "open with" and choose the correct program.

or

the windows registry may be corrupt in which case you will need to use a program to clean it (regclean from microsoft).

Go to www.videolan.org

Download VLC Player, its a universal player, plays almost every file format, it can play DVD VOB files also.

It does not needs any special codec.

I am using the same always.

Download the Videolan media player, it can play almost everything. Google VideoLan or VLC Media player for the download link.
