Usually after three years the pump tube in the pump breaks down from exposure to the chlorine. You need to replaced the pump tube. Also the end of the tube that delivers the clorine could be plugged as chlorine is famous for crystalizing and plugging the tubes. Also check to make sure that the pump is running.

If you are using a chemical supplier, then they might be able to check and possibly fix for free, parts extra of course. Contacting moyer diebel or whoever sold you the machine will tell you of an authorized service repairman for your machine.

There is a smell in the dishwasher and on the dishes when clean

I suspect stagnant water is laying in the bottom areas. You will have to lay the machine on it's back to access the pump.

Top rack with food residue after washed, dirtier than before wash

Commercial dishmachines have "endcaps" that unscrew or pop out for easy cleaning, In your case however I am guessing your wash arms have only the jet openings and the main opening that water enters the arm from the pump.

If this is the case, use a single strand of stripped copper romex type wire of a gauge that will allow you to work the wire into the arm and clean it out.

If you don't prewash dishes you are going to have issues, I have removed straws, bottle caps, mop threads, scratch pads, rags, chunks of food, broken glass from impeller housings that wear down the fins of the impeller in which case the water pumps less than adaquate. If you have not been prewashing even your intake and output manifolds could be blocked with debris.

A dishwasher is a sanitizing unit not the kid in the kitchen with a scratch pad at your local restaurant.

They key is to put the dishes in your machine looking like you just pulled them out of the box.

Good Luck and Happy New Year to you.

My dishwasher has the sanitize option but at the end of the cycle the sanitize light is not on. It is about 3 years old. When does the sanitize happen during the cycle so I can open the door and measure...

Check your owners manual to see when the light should come on. If it comes on due to high temps, then the heater element may be bad. Run it, then see if element is hot (be careful !)

Kenmore Quiet Guard

You dont really need it, when the washer gets done Open the door for a minute and let the steam out and shut the door dishes will then dry. the reason there still wet is because of the steam from the Hot water

I have a three year old Hobart. I am not sure

Look on the top edge of the door to find the data plate. It sounds like an SR24, if the leds are on the left of two temp gauges. If your sanitizer pump has a tired silicone tube that is flattened from use, it will not draw chemical. if you have an air bubble in the sense board at the back, it will think you have run out. If you have changed the type of chemical or diluted it, the board will need recalibrating to suit. Put some sanitizer in a small vessel with the pickup tube and monitor the amount delivered. Usually one is looking for 50 ppm solution of bleach and rinse water.( test with litmus paper) If you have an SR24H with a booster, you don't need bleach sanitizer and holding the sanitizer button will turn the sense off.

No dishwashing agents or rinse agents dispensed into machine through external tubes.

The D-8 is a great D/W and is in fact a full use D/W if you call Ecolab,Diversey or whatever chemical agent you use they can install an automatic soap system on this machine with no trouble

Hobart LX30H washing to hot.

what temp is it washing at. washing should not be the problem. This machine is designed to rinse at 180 degrees + to sanitize dishes. The machine could be converted to a chemical sanitize, it would use bleach in the rinse water instead of 180 degree water to sanitize.

Kenmore Dishwasher Not Sanitizing

You don't need an additive.
The sanitized LED itself is probably out.
It will not light up if the sensor doesn't sense that the water has reached 155 F. If the dishes are getting clean, I assume the heater is working properly. You could have a failed sensor, but you would usually notice longer than normal wash times and the dishwasher getting hotter than usual.
Alternately press heat dry and hi temp scrub 4 times. This puts washer into diagnostic mode. The first thing that happens is all the LED's light up. If it lights up then it is ok and the problem is somewhere else.
If these instructions don't apply to your machine, please post the complete model number from the decal just inside the front of the tub and I will look it up for you.
