Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional for PC

Bluetooth Control Panel Missing in Reinstalled Windows XP with SP2

I had to reinstall windows XP from the original MS support disk. It was pre-SP2 so I had to install that and all updates as well.

Everything has worked well with a single exception. I have a logitech DiNovo bluetooth keyboard and mouse that worked fine before having to reinstall. Now they don't.

I read the MS knowledgebase articles and determined that there is supposed to be a bluetooth control panel, but it doesn't exist.

I've tried the following:

None of this helped. Unfortunately the maker of my PC is now out of business so I cannot go back to them.

Any ideas on how to get my bluetooth functionality back would be most welcome.

When i reinstalled my windows I heard no sound

You need to reinstall the drivers for your hardware. Sometimes companies give you a disk with them on. If you do not have a disk, comment back with the make and model of your computer, or make and model of your motherboard and I will try to point you in the right direction.

Thanks for using Fixya. I'll watch for your reply.

How to convert english xp sp2 to mandarin xp sp2? tnx

Go to the start button, then control panel, when you open control panel
if you don't see Region and Language, look up in the top corner and switch to classic view.

In region and language is where you change the language and keyboard.

If Chinese is not there, you might have to have the windows XP disk,'
to install the language, so times they are not all installed to save space.

Also, go to windows updates, its also in control panel, check for updates, you might find that you can load the language from there .

Hi, Look in your program files. R/click computer, R/click Local disc. Then right click program files. If the folder is there open it, reinstall office.
You can also go to search, type in ms office and see if the file is still installed.
If the file is gone you will have to reinstall using a ms office disc.

Nlite Windows XP Pro SP2 not recognized

You should use Nero 6 or above version. It is very easy to use.
Just create an image of original disc and then burn it on the blank disc. The copied disc will work fine, I am sure.
Please try it.....

Firewall settings

This usually happens due to missing or corrupt SharedAccess reg key, which represents the Windows Firewall Service.

Download sharedaccess.reg (for Windows XP SP2 only) and save to Desktop. Then double-click the file to merge the contents to the registry. The Services entry will be created. Restart Windows (mandatory step, otherwise the following NETSH command will display an error message).

After restarting Windows, run the following from Command Prompt (cmd.exe)

Launch firewall applet from Control Panel, and then configure your Windows Firewall settings.

If nothing helps, as a last-resort solution (before reinstalling Windows XP Service Pack 2), give these two commands a try. Click Start, Run and type:

rundll32 setupapi,InstallHinfSection Ndi-Steelhead 132 %windir%\inf\netrass.inf

Restart Windows, and then run this command (from Command Prompt):

Attempt to start Firewall applet. Start the Windows Firewall service if prompted.
