I made the mistake of upgrading to Windows 7 from XP. I hated Windows 7 so I returned to XP. Now my Epson stylus CX3810 will not load into my laptop. What do I do?

- I did use the epson disc that came with the printer, and it doesn't work. It has always worked in the past without fail, but not this time. I am a newbie to the computer world. How do I do this download thing from the internet that you mention? And why would I need to need to download anything, when I've never had to do this in the past? I am VERY confused.

- When I tried Windows 7 it would not accept my Epson printer, so there is no Epson program in the computer whatsoever. The Epson program was lost and deleted when the changeover happened from XP to W7. Once my beloved XP was reinstalled, I now discover I can't install what was there previously anymore using the Epson disc that came with the printer. I believe for all intents and purposes my laptop is like new virgin material (so to speak) and doesn't have Epson in it anywhere. Incidently other programs are installing OK using discs. It's just my Epson that's creating heaadaches. Oh and by the way. I say this with respect but I think W-7 is just another form of VISTA, and I don't want any part of it on my computer EVER!! But Thanks anyway.

- The website you gave me for Epson isn't there anymore, and I can't pull it up. It says it doesn't exist anymore. I give up, and will take my computer to a computer store and let them deal with this. Obviously this is way over my head. Thanks for your patience. I still say "XP rules"....smile. I've had 3 heart attacks, and I can't afford to risk my health with the stress of learning a new operating program. W-7 still stinks of VISTA. Boo hiss. You know that old saying "why fix something when it isn't broken"? I love XP and I had no business trying W-7 when in fact I hated Vista the way I did/do. All the best to you and thanks again.

Hi there, I would first recommend uninstalling all Epson printer software and drivers (since they were updated to work in Windows 7 but apparently do not function well in Xp) You can access and uninstall the software and the printer through the Control Panel utilities.

After that is finished, I would recommend using the disc that came with your printer to re-install the software and the printer drivers. If you do not have the disc, the drivers and scan utility can be found here on Epsons support site.

Good Luck, hope this helped :)

p.s. If you ever happen to give Windows 7 another try, Microsoft does have Windows Xp Mode available for download (its free), which runs as a virtual machine inside Windows 7. It's like having the best of both worlds at the same time :)

- Hi, sorry for the bad link :S this one should work ftp://ftp.epson.com/drivers/epson11529.exe

Remember to follow to setup instructions clearly. Have your printer unplugged from your computer when you run the setup program, the program will most likely ask you to plug it in at a certain point while it's installing. This setup program also includes the scanning utility.

If you're not sure what you're doing when it comes to uninstalling any existing software or drivers that might pertain to your printer, then just go ahead with running the setup program. Removing the old software and drivers just guarantee they don't interfere with the re-installation, so I can't guarantee the setup program won't come across any errors.

Hope this helps, and again, srry for the bad link if that caused any confusion.

p.s. Nothing personal, just me spouting my opinion as a paranoid freak, but a nine year old operating system, while familiar and well loved (I still run it on many of my older machines), it has more 'holes' than swiss cheese....as in, there are many more malicious exploits available for Xp than Vista and/or Windows 7.

Remove the printer. The machine probably still has the WIN 7 driver. Reboot should load the driver or use the software that came with the printer. Updated drivers are on the EPSON website.
