Re: computer hanging -Reg

You need to increase the ram memory to avoid the hanging of your pc. you can also clean the memory, we have some softwares in cleaning memory such as ram cleaner and so on. the other solution is the weekly defragmentation to speed up your hard drive

Recover from hang

Check for toolbars and such in your 'add/remove programs' and remove all of them. Look for any other programs that have appeared and then do a full scan with the anti-virus I hope you have installed.

Hii,, i hv made some folders hidden ..and now when i am trying to unhide i m not able to find folder options.. my operating system is vista home basic.. when i am typing regedit in search option it is...

Here are the some steps you can do to enable your folder option .

Type gpedit.msc in RUN dialog box and goto: User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System
in right-side pane, set "Prevent access to Registry editing tools" to either Not Configured or Disabled.

Type regedit in RUN dialog box and press Enter. it'll open Registry Editor, now go to following keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Policies\Explorer
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Policies\Explorer
In right-side pane, check whether a DWORD value named NoFolderOptions exists or not? If it exists, delete it.

2. If you don't want to do any registry editing and are not familiar with editing the registry, then you can simply download following file, extract it and then run the .REG file:

Slow oparet, restart & hanging

May be due to virus. or all the files you closes will be placed in temporary folder. It causes slow to operate, restart and hanging. click Start>Run>%temp%>OK. it displays no. of files in temporary folder. Then Ctrl+A, (Select all) > Shift+Del. It deletes all the files in temp. folder. Sometimes all cannot be deleted. You can delete one by one. On completion, restart PC. Try it.

Surabaya in my birthday

If you are getting message like" Surabaya in my birthday, Don't kill me, I'm just send message from your computer", then it obvious that your computer is infected with Surabaya Virus

Symptoms of Virus
1) All folders get disappear.
2) Folder options not work.
3) Machine Restarts on running command like msconfig , regedit.
4) You are unable to install many antivirus.
5) Folders name appear with scr extension ( Actually not folders)

Reasons of infection
1) Infection from removable drives e.g. pendrive, hard disk,
2) Reading cards using card reader
3) From CD or DVD
4) From others computer
5) From internet

1) Using free software:
Download the "Autorun Eater" from internet ( 1.5mb)
Download from:

a) Install "Autorun eater" ( some Antivirus detect it as a virus but it is safe) and run it. It appears at taskbar ( lower right corner)

b) Right click on it and follow following path
Registry fix>>fix folder option.
(This will repair folder option and it will appear in tool menu)
Now you can see hidden folders

But Surabaya virus change your folder attribute to system folder. So to see your folders you have to untcheck option " hide protected system files and folder" which appears
Right "below the show hidden files and folder" option
Open my computer>>tools>>folder option>>view>>uncheck show hidden files.. and hide protected system files and folder
How to change folder attributes to normal

You can use command prompt to change the folder attributes
A) Start MS-DOS command prompt (start>>program files>>accessories>>command prompt
B) Type drive letter and attrib command
D:\Attrib *. * -S -H -R /D /S ( Put space between /D and /S switches.)
This will change your all folder option to normal

a) type "regedit" at command prompt..STRAT>>run>>regedit
b) Search word 'surabaya' in registry...Edit>>find>>Surabaya
c) Delete two entries appeared in search as " LegalNotice Caption and LegalNoticeText"
d) Now using left option tree navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\showfile
check value 0 to 1

Autorun Eater software:
Autorun Eater software helps to protect and remove autorun virus which generally infects from external storage device and internet. This small software is very helpful in conjunction with any antivirus software even it alone can protect your computer from autorun virus(but not complete solution).

When downloading files sometimes the download hangs.

try getting yourself a download manager program.
This will enable you to continue your download-or resume it if it freezes.
Search the web ro Free Download manager.
Your actual problem may be that the destination folder is full, try a disk cleanup, or empty the temp/ temporary internet files folder.

Os errer

To repair Windows OS system files you can use SFC Command and if you wish to replace windows installation you can boot from CD and go to setup then it will detect old installation then you can press "R" key, I'm not sure that what kinda files you trying to replace so try sfc first and if not go for the 2nd option

System File Checker gives an administrator the ability to scan all protected files to verify their versions. If System File Checker discovers that a protected file has been overwritten, it retrieves the correct version of the file from the cache folder (%Systemroot%\System32\Dllcache) or the Windows installation source files, and then replaces the incorrect file. System File Checker also checks and repopulates the cache folder. You must be logged on as an administrator or as a member of the Administrators group to run System File Checker. If the cache folder becomes damaged or unusable, you can use the sfc /scannow, the sfc /scanonce, or the sfc /scanboot commands to repair its contents. uparrow.gifBack to the top
