Bugaboo Cameleon - 2 problems (Canvas Hood/Canopy and Shaky/Loose Handlebar

Hi All

Hoping you can help me. Ordered the Bugaboo Camelon online from Babytrade and took delivery before Xmas. We put it all together and two problems have arisen.

1. The handlebar seems to be very shaky, I assumed it would be sturdy as having looked at them in many shops I never experience this.

2. The canvas hood/canopy on the carrycot will not sit up stiff like it does on all of the other models I have seen.. any suggestions ?

Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem. It looks so floppy! I have tried to reverse the clamps do you think it's a design flaw on the 2007 model?

Hi there

hope this makes sense....

the handlebars on all bugaboo cameleons are 'loose'... it is a safety feature, designed that if one or more wheels are off the ground the stroller will not fold.
You will notice when you take the seat frame off the chassis to fold it, it will only allow you to do so if you release the locks somewhere in between the tow positions of 'give' (if that makes sense)

it is basically so that IF someone does not have the seatframe on properly, thus not locking it into the starlock, and they accidentaly press the lock/unlock switch when goin off a kerb etc, that the chassis will not fold. its not a fault, just a design feature.

As regards the hood, this is difficult to explain online, but basically it sounds like the two clamps that attach your hood to the seat frame have the 'teeth' in different positions than each other.
they have to be symetrically aligned. ie if the plastic skeleton part that goes through the hood is further back on one side than the other, the hood looks 'floppy'

i appreciate this probably makes no sense, like i said its hard to explain online. if you cant sort it yourself check the bugaboo website for your local stockist, and go in. they will be more than happy to fix the hood for you.
This is really why companies like bugaboo like customers to buy strollers from retail stores, instead of having a box delivered and assembling yourself, as they can take you through it all, assemble it, and give you a decent demo of how it works.

cheers

Hi there, we just followed the solution for problem #2 and the hood looks perfect now. The instructions are wrong, don't follow the L & R instructions as its to opposite way around.

Thanks for the help, great website!

To spare u the aggravation i had while assembling my stroller here is a tip 4 the hood part. Make sure that the canopy's wire clamps are on their proper side. They are marked R & L to know which goes where. The instruction book indicates to that by showing u to place them with the hole's down.
Hope my suggestion will be of a help.
Thanx 4 this great website.

I have a suggestion for problem #2.

I called Bugaboo and they said that I had the clamps reversed. I switched the clamps and the canopy is now stiffer.

Do you find the canopy hard to move into place?

HOW TO FIX BUGABOO CAMELEON CANOPY

The Bugaboo canopy uses a clever two stage hub. A spring keeps the sections together in a twin set of wavy indents. As you pull the canopy out the first arch moves to the next indentation (60 degrees) than the second arch moves it's next indentation (90 degrees). If you have the fabric set to far back over the back of the frame and a arch can't reach it's next indentation it will jump back to it's first position. Check the arches can reach the indentations. If a spring breaks inside a hub it is not repairable but is available as a part for around 25 Euro for a pair.www.babycare.nl/bugaboo-canopy-clamp-cameleon-2pc-p-2467.html Ships Worldwide or Check out www.bugaboo.com

I have a bugaboo cameleon and try as I might, I can't get the hood canopy to stay taught at the back, it's loose / baggy. I've tried different hood fabrics as well as reversing the clamps but...

Hi...I currently own Bugaboo Cameleon, which has the air filled wheels. I would really like to purchase foam wheels since it eliminates the part of filling air filled wheels. I would love to purchase...

Yes they do. I've never had a problem with the air filled tires for two reasons. I threw away that plastic joke of an air pump and filled the tires at the local garage to 2 bar / 30 psi not the silly 1 bar / 15 psi Bugaboo recommend. 15 psi is to soft and makes punctures far more likely.

Im looking to buy a bugaboo gecko hood but cant find one would the frog fit it

Not many Geckos in NZ and I've not worked on one but hoods are just held in place by canopy wires that insert into a clip on canopy holder. www.babycare.nl/spare-parts-bugaboo-cameleon-c-34_124_153.html shows the wires are the same for the Frog and Gecko so you should be fine,

I'm having problems attaching the breezy sun canopy, it seems to be slack (not taute and smooth looking) and falls down. What am I doing wrong? I've tred it several ways...it's so simple yet I cannot get...

Unfortunately that is how the breezy sun canopy's are. For that reason I avoid them, and the fleece. The canvas canopy's tend to sit a lot more straight and firm without drooping down onto baby's head.

I'm I dropped my necklace inside my 2018 Camry XSE & I finally saw it today a few weeks inside the lining of the drivers seat belt buckle. Can you tell me how to retrieve my necklace? Thanks! Denise My necklace is inside the lining around the "stem?" Of the seat belt buckle down inside a hole. It's a white gold necklace but appeared to me that it's laying on top of something silver? Possibly some type of track inside the assembly. Honestly I have no idea what I'm talking about. I was excited when I saw it since it appeared as though it could be easily retrieved and it doesn't look like it's very far down inside the lining of the buckle either, so since I have tiny hands I thought I might possibly even be able to get it out with only my hand. Sadly I was mistaken. Next I took some thick, heavy craft wire; first thing I thought of bent it over & made a hook on on end? I'm no fisherman but it seemed that logically it should work? I should be able to catch the chain in the hook. With the fabric of the lining being a charcoal color, inside the lining even darker. Inside a dark car with only an over head light, trying to hold a flashlight while necklace fishing in over 100 degree temps, though I'm stubborn and didn't want to. The heat did finally convince me I had no idea what I as doing and the chances of my catching my necklace at that point much less actually reeling it in safely were probably few and far between. So I'm back to searching the internet yet again. Ha! If you're wondering why I'm going to such lengths to retrieve a necklace, I bought it the day my first grand baby was born and it has her name and birth information engraved on it. It's the sentimental value for her DeDe that makes it so special and why I want to get it back so badly. I'm very much appreciative of anything you can advise me to do to help me with this process. Thank you so much, Denise Tallant a/k/a Stella James's DeDe
