Check to see if the tv is in the text mode of the closed captioning. If not you may need a new main signal board. Also try unplugging the set for a couple of hours to reset it.

My 52" Toshiba Regza has a six inch vertical line just left of center that changes color as the picture changes. Some times it stays with the same pattern for quite a while. It goes away when I turn it off...

you must either change the t- con board, or the left board strip. it is dangerous because mines caught on fire. but most like since that strip is connected to the lcd screen u will have to replace the whole entire screen.

Toshiba regza 52xf550u has a 6 inch multi colored line in the middle of the screen...what is the problem

If it flickers and changes colors like my 52" did, I removed the back panel cover, tore off the cheap foil on top and removed the t-con board. Used a head gun as I seem to fix alot of things with it now adays since lead free solder is cheap, heat the points up for about 2 minutes, replace it and throw some air circulation. I also noticed the top of my lcd has two main boards the are supposed to match up a platic pin and slide into place, the boards were warped and wouldn't stay down. I used a dremel polishing wheel, cut it in half and wedged them down and tv is running clean again.

Small black box in upper left corner of Sony TV - need to remove

I had a similar problem on my Toshiba Regza but trying my fix couldn't hurt. I use a satellite dish for TV (if you do the same this might work)... I turned off my receiver, took the programming card out, cleaned it with my shirt (especially the part that looks like a computer chip), put it back in the receiver, turned it back on and when everything reinitialized the black rectangle was gone.

Hope this helps.

Vertical red line on Toshiba REGZA 52HL167 tv.

I have this same problem with my 52 inch toshiba regza , The repair shop has said the cost of repair is as much as it is to replace the TV. I am past the one year warranty, but less than 2 year ownership, so Toshiba won't fix the known issue. Solution is don't buy a Toshiba

Trouble tuning in empty dtv channels

Just go to the main settings. You will see an "autoprogram" option. Select this and it will scan all available channels and delete non-airing channels

Changing TV set up to cable from "air"

Try setting tv to channel 3 or channel 4, this should coincide with the back of satellite box (a little black switch with a 3 or 4). then switch channels with your satellite box. I would recommend using another output off the satellite box to feed the other tv, a splitter loses some signal quality an can go bad as well. get a long rca cable to feed tv!

Cannot set screen width

Both the TV and the Cable box have Aspect(height/width) settings. You must confirme the setting on the cable box and then do the TV.

1. Set TV to Native, this should show image exactly as the cable box sends it.
2. change Aspect settings on the cable box until you get one that works
3. if you get a good one, then your OK. You will just need to find a setting between the 2 devices that work for you. Also, these settings may change automatically for the TV or cable box based on the channel
