Do the belts pull the motor as well as the rollers?

No.
Theres a shaft on the motor to drive the roller, belt connected to it.
Electrical power drives the motor, which in turn will spin a Brush Roller.
Some vacuums may have an additional roller to a gear system to power self propel.
Others, like a Kirby, have a separate Geared 'Transmission'.

U6485-900 WindTunnel Self-Propelled I changed the belts but there is not enough tension on the brush drive belt to get it to rotate

I had the exact same problem with my Hoover U6485-900 Anniversary upright, self propelled, vacuum. It would move backwards and forwards, had good vacuum, but wouldn't pick up much because the brush/roller was not turning very well. I replaced the main drive belt (38528035) and it now works great. The old belt had stretched and was slipping under load. Thanks for the great suggestions.

How to change belt on the kirby ultimate g series diamond edition?

Hi There,

Here's a very helpful video that we've shot showing you exactly how to replace the belt on a Kirby Generation series, including your Ultimate G. The video also shows you how to perform basic maintenance on your roller brush to prolong the life of the belt as long as possible. If you haven't already purchased a belt, and need to buy a new one, here's a link to the exact belt that's used on your repair:

Belt will not stay on hoover windtunnel s3765

The Hoover Windtunnel™ Self-Propelled models have two belts, a flat belt and the V-Belt. This V-Belt is the one that drives the Brush Roller. After about three months, most belts stretch out causing them to slip. This means the brushroll turns slower or not at all and the self-propelled becomes increasingly harder to push. It is recommended that both belts should be changed at the same time.

Smells (burnt rubber) like it's overheating when I vacuum

I would check the brush roller and make sure it turns good and replace the belt on it . When you smell burning rubber most of the time it is the belt .

Prying out the Roller?

Hi There, There should be no need to pry it at all. The best way to get it out is to pull with either end at the same time and it should pop straight out. Also if the old belt is still on use that to pull the roller out. Many Thanks Chris www.elidistribution.co.uk
