Your kitchenaid mixer is meant to leak a tiny amount of oil around the rim of the planetary gear on the front of the machine. This is just a means of lubrication. If however you are getting alot of oil coming out of the sides of the unit, the transmission gasket may be worn or broken if this is the case it will have to be replaced. part number for the gasket is 4162324. If your getting alot of oil from the center of the unit this could indicate worn or broken seals. there are 4 located inside the unit, and would need to be dismantled in order to replace. part number for all four is 3180163. If you are leaking alot of oil or grease continued use of the mixer might cause it damage. Hope this helps
Thanks

The pin that is holding the top to the base ( Ithink that is its job) keeps sliding out when the mixer is on and the motor unit has dropped so that the beater grinds the metal from the bowl. I have tried tightening the screw under the motor unit but this seems to make the top drop even lower.

hi, I own a Kitchen aid classic , stand mixer, and the problem I have is, the pin that holds together the motor head to the stand always comes out. Also sometimes when I tilt the motor head I can hear a clicking sound. My Mixer is not even 2 years old. How big of a problem is that and how can it be fixed?

I own a kitchen aid Classic mixer and have used the shredder attachment on a number of occassions. Tried to insert the attachment recently and can't get it all the way in. Goes in except for about the last inch, so it will not seat to 'lock' in place. I remember reading this a a common problem, but can't find anything on it. Nothing has changed, no damage, why all the sudden it won't fully insert? Thanks. Chris

I put in a new worm gear that had broken due to a part falling in the mixer bowl. When I re-assembled the mixer it would not start. I put on a new wire plug and still no current to the mixer? The mixer motor was running fine before I took it apart. I had started a few times before taking it apart and the motor ran but the mixer would not turn because the gear was broken. I know the motor was fine and current was getting to it. Is there a reset switch if you take one of these mixers apart?
