Tv picture blinks on and off

My 1996 Sony rear projection tv picture blinks on and off after 5-10 minutes of use. It was fine until the last few months. Any suggestions?

Re: tv picture blinks on and off

Sounds like a cracked solder joint. I would check the flyback mounts , then the horizontal and verticle deflection ciruit componnents for cracked solder joints.

Tv works fine, cut it off and it will not come back on . Red light blinks 6 times, then repeats itself.

this is an indication of a overcurrent/ overvoltage error....meaning short in a voltage supply. I have seen this problem in the shop with this set. IN MY CASE it was shorted convergence chips. but it could also be any of the low voltage supplies 5,10 15,-15 lines

Sony LCD television will not power on.

I get 5 blinking red lights for about a minute or so before it powers back down. The Sony TV has a specific light that i presume is supposed to light up when the bulb is out. I'm unsure if this is what it is.
no picture, no sound. tries to boot with green light blinking a few times. then goes to red blinking light, six in all, then waits a few moments, then another 6 blinking red light.
Bulb was already replaced several months ago but we do have the TV on for long periods of time.
