Perhaps someone changed the print quality setting to a higher one, or chose a different media (paper) type in the printer preferences? If you choose standard paper and standard quality (or something to that effect) does it speed up? When you choose enhanced/photo quality and special photo paper, the printer will print up to 8 times slower, putting much more and much finer dots on the paper, resulting in indeed much higher print quality - but you don't always need that kind of quality, like when you print documents.
