I have a problem with my Inspiron 1150. Just a couple of weeks ago the sound all of sudden stopped working. I have tried to reinstall the SigmaTel driver but it won't let me. An error message comes up while trying to install it and it says, "Installing SigmaTel C-Major Audio" and then it says, "Device object not present, restart the system and run setup again." I don't know what to do about this seeing as the computer doesn't recognize the sound card all of a sudden. I don't see the Sigmatel anywhere. Also having problems with USB ports not working. Can anyone help??

Your laptop has a hardware problem. The unrecognized sound card and USB ports are a dead giveaway. You probably have a loose wire, or worse, a motherboard that is going bad. If your laptop is under warranty, call Dell and get the laptop to them right away. If not, you'll have to have an experienced repair person look at it and you'll have to decide if it's worth fixing.
